Fayette Community Church plans all-day event for ‘conspiracy’ Honduras fund-raiser

Fayette community Church has partnered with Advent Conspiracy to raise money to provide a well for a village in Honduras.
This Saturday, Dec. 12, FCC will host an indoor yard sale, free child care, pictures with Santa, $5 haircuts, and a live music festival, featuring Zerubbabel, Chelsea Boyd, Jason Gridley, Renegade Jane, Drew Wilmesherr, and House of Thomas, to raise awareness regarding the world water crisis. McDonough Road will present Cottrell in concert December 13

McDonough Road Baptist Church and Compassion International will present contemporary Christian singer and songwriter Travis Cottrell in concert Sunday, Dec. 13, at 6 p.m. at McDonough Road Baptist Church in Fayetteville.

Mrs. Mary Younger (left) and daughter Drenda Brady, members of The Catholic Church of St. Gabriel in Fayetteville, recently donated a sanctuary lamp to Our Lady of Mercy High School. Shown also is Father Jimmy Adams, chaplain of the school and pastor of St. Gabriel’s. The lamp was originally in a Catholic church in Houston, Texas, when the Youngers were married 63 years ago. They obtained it when the parish rebuilt and expanded. Adams blessed the lamp after celebrating a special Mass remembering Leroy Younger who died seven years ago when he was pastor at St. Gabriel’s. Holly Grove AME will host Men’s Chorus Night Dec. 12

Holly Grove African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church will hold “Saturday Night Out with the Lord,” for its Men’s Chorus Night on Saturday, Dec. 12, at 6 p.m. The Pastor at Holly Grove isthe Rev. Eyvonne Whitman.

B’nai Israel to host book fair; celebrate Chanukah

Congregation B’nai Israel will host a Book Fair at Barnes & Noble in Fayetteville Saturday, Dec. 12 from 4 to 6 p.m.
Dec. 12 is the second night of Chanukah, the Jewish celebration of the victory of the Maccabees and the rededication of the Jerusalem Temple. It also commemorates the miracle of the oil that burned for 8 days. Read More»

COS to offer Moravian Love Feasts Saturday & Sunday

Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church in Peachtree City will offer Love Feasts in Moravian Tradition on Saturday, Dec. 12, at 7 p.m., and Sunday, Dec. 13, at 6 p.m. All worshipers will be served specially-baked Love Feast buns, Moravian coffee, and beeswax candles dressed with a red paper “ruff.”
The theme of this year’s Love Feasts is “Glory to God in the Highest.” Vivaldi’s “Gloria” will anchor the program, sung by Sanctuary Choir accompanied by strings and conducted by James C. Hagberg. Read More»

The Worship Ministries of Fayetteville First Baptist will offer favorite Christmas songs and carols, as well as a play presented by the Revelation Drama Troupe, Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 12 and 13, at 6 p.m. nightly. Edgefield will host ‘Tribe of Judah’ second anniversary this Saturday

Minister Barney Jackson and The Tribe of Judah community choir will present their “Just Grateful Gala 2009,”second year anniversary celebration.
The red carpet affair will be Saturday, Dec. 5 at 5 p.m. at Edgefield Baptist Church.
Dinner will be served from 5 -6 p.m.
Ticket prices are $20 for ages 16 and up and $10 for ages 15 and under. Edgefield is at 140 Church St. in downtown Fayetteville.

Bishop to visit COS Friday; special events announced

Bishop Julian Gordy of the Southeastern Synod, ELCA, will visit Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church in Peachtree City on Friday, Dec. 4. Beginning at 7 p.m. he will foster conversation and field questions.
Saturday at 5:30 p.m. the youth of Christ Our Shepherd will offer a spaghetti supper and silent auction to raise funds for three week-long leadership and service events next summer. Read More»
