Holy Cross will offer weight loss class on Tuesdays

The Church of the Holy Cross in Fayetteville will host a 12-week class, “Losing Weight God’s Way,” at the church on Tuesday evenings, beginning April 13.

The class will involve learning to practice Biblical eating habits and exercise and will be taught by Deacon Joe Liptak.

Cost is $25 for materials including text and workbook. Registration is required and space is limited.

New GriefShare session starts May 4 at FFBC

On May 4, Fayetteville First Baptist Church will begin a new session of GriefShare, a 13-week Bible based program for those who have lost a loved one. The class meets each Tuesday from 6:30-8 p.m. Each class begins with a video followed by group discussion. There is no charge for the class.

The program is open to people of all ages in the community and surrounding areas, whether the loss is recent or in the past.

Those who have lost a spouse, a child, a parent, a sibling, a relative or a close friend are encouraged to join this new session. Read More»

SFM readies for spring yard sale

Square Foot Ministries is now accepting items for its annual yard sale set for sometime this spring.

Items being accepted include furniture, books, jewelry, small appliances. knick knacks, toys, children’s shoes and clothing, linens, sporting equipment and household goods in good, saleable condition. Adult clothing and mattresses/box springs will not be accepted.

Join Nat’l Hgts. for trip to Austria, Oberammergau

The community is invited to join National Heights Baptist Church members on a trip to Austria and the Oberammergau Passion Play, leaving Atlanta on August 26.

The original Passion Play began in 1634 when villagers of Oberammergau vowed to perform a play depicting the suffering, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, if God would spare its residents from the bubonic plague.

Give Mom a lobster dinner for Mother’s Day

For people looking for a different present for Mother’s Day this year, St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Newnan is offering a novel opportunity -— a full, lobster dinner.

Members of the church are taking orders for complete dinners to take home on the day before Mother’s special day. The only thing left to supply is the candlelight.

Since all of the lobsters will be flown in live from Maine, they will have to be ordered by May 1.

I’ve always said that someday I’m going to design a church to fit the natural instincts of most people. The main element will be pews on a conveyor belt. When people walk into the church, there will be only one pew available — in the back, of course — just where everybody wants to sit! Then, when the back pew fills up, the whole pew would move to the front on a conveyor belt, and a new empty pew would pop up in the back for the next group of people and so on. Read More»
