PTCUMC to offer handbell lessons

On four Tuesdays in July, Peachtree City United Methodist Church will offer a series of free handbell lessons for adults and high school/college students who are curious about handbells.

The one-hour lessons, from 7 – 8 p.m., will be given on July 5, 12, 19 and 26 and are open to the community.

To reserve a spot, contact Jeanne Blood at lblood3@bellsouth.net or 770-487-2962. No commitment is required and there is no charge for the lessons, which will take place in the third floor bell room at the PTCUMC Family Ministry Center, 400 Windgate Rd. in Peachtree City. Read More»

Summit offers camp for special kids

The Factor Grandparent Raising Grandchildren (GRG) committee at The Summit Church has brought key stakeholders together to provide a grief camp for children being raised in grandparent/relative care homes.

Camp Re-Mix, offered July 16-18, is a three-day, two-night weekend camp for children 7-14 years of age who are living in relative care placement.

The Camp experience will include regular camp activities, swimming, hiking, and campfires. Therapeutic activities include, art, skits, and small group discussion. Read More»

Southern Country Gospel Sings for the month of June will be held in the Grantville Railroad Freight Depot in Grantville, located on Exit 35 on Interstate 85. For Friday June 25: Jackie Robinson, Ward Family and One Accord. For Saturday June 26: Wayne Faircloth from Columbus, Christiannaires from LaGrange, and Bobby Ellis Band from Columbus. All Saints’ free music camp set for July 12-16 in PTC

All Saints Anglican Church in Peachtree City will conduct its annual free children’s Music Camp July 12-16. The theme is “A Week of Praise” with a focus on a variety of music, especially traditional hymns and praise songs.

Curriculum for the camp includes singing, dancing, an introduction to various instruments, composition, and art. It also features contests, games and snacks. No previous experience is required. Read More»

Visit Brooks UMC thrift shop Saturday for bargains, goodies

The Second Chance Thrift Shop in Brooks will celebrate its first year of operation on Saturday, June 19.

The community is encouraged to join the celebration by coming by for cookies and lemonade that day.

Peachtree City UMC to host ‘Let Freedom Ring’ celebration July 4

The community is invited to a “Let Freedom Ring” celebration at Peachtree City United Methodist Church, Sunday, July 4, at 1:30 p.m., in honor of the signing of the Declaration of Independence and the nation’s 234th birthday.

Several Girl Scout and Boy Scout troops will present the flag to kick off the program. Congressional Resolution Number 25, which established the nationwide ringing of bells at precisely 2 p.m. eastern daylight time, will be read aloud, followed by a reading of The Declaration of Independence. Christ the King will offer 2-day healing conference June 25, 26

A Conference on Healing, featuring the teaching and ministry of the Most Rev. Charles Jones, archbishop of the Southeast Province of the International Charismatic Episcopal Church, will be held Friday evening, June 25, beginning at 7 p.m. The conference will continue Saturday, June 26, from 9 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.

The conference, whose theme is, “He Makes All Things New,” is sponsored by the local chapter of the International Order of St. Luke the Physician. Prayer for those suffering from physical, emotional, mental, or spiritual conditions will be offered. Read More»

FFUMC will offer four FPU classes

Fayetteville First United Methodist Church (FFUMC) will offer multiple courses in Financial Peace University (13-week course) in the fall of 2010. The course benefits couples/individuals of all ages — those with or without debt.
