OM gets new president, CEO

The board of directors of Operation Mobilization (OM), with headquarters in Tyrone, announced that as of July 2010 Andrew Scott has assumed responsibility as president and CEO of OM USA. Word of Life Free Methodist will offer special six-week “Fearless” lecture series

Word of Life Free Methodist Church in Fayetteville will present a lecture series each Sunday entitled “Fearless” beginning this Sunday Sept. 19 at 10 a.m.

The six week series investigates the fear Americans are living in every day from terrorists, swine flu, layoffs, and foreclosures.

The Rev. Greg Nitchman will lead participants through a biblical study teaching how you should and could live fearlessly, utilizing Max Lucado’s book, “Fearless” as a guide. Read More»

Christianity, Science, the Bible conference starts tomorrow at Heritage in Fayetteville

Heritage Church in Fayetteville will host a free conference on Christianity, Science, and the Bible Sept, 16-18, from 6:30 - 9 p.m. each evening.

The conference will feature Professor A.C. McIntosh of Leeds University, England, and Dr. Charles Thaxton of Peachtree City, and will be held at Heritage Church, 150 Lester Road, Fayetteville. Refreshments will be provided.

On Thursday, Sept. 16, Thaxton (6:30) will lecture on Christianity and Science, and McIntosh (7:30) will address Design Intelligence and the Word of God. Read More»

FUMC’s seniors will tour Atlanta landmarks Oct. 7

The SAGE group (seniors 55 and older) at Fayetteville First United Methodist Church is planning an outing to include a tour of the Oakland Cemetery, the Margaret Mitchell House, and lunch at Six Feet Under in Atlanta on Oct. 7.

The group will depart from the parking lot next to the Holiday Inn at 9 a.m. and return around 4:30 p.m. The cost is $25 plus the cost of lunch.

Deadline for registrations is Sept. 29, at which time 15 paid registrations are needed to make the trip. Read More»

Bethany will host revival Sept. 24, 25

Bethany United Methodist Church will host a revival Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 24 and 25, featuring the Rev. Dr. Phil Schroeder, associate director of Connectional Ministries of the North Georgia United Methodist Conference.

The Saturday service will begin at 5 p.m. and will feature the Good News Trio. Light refreshments will follow the service.
