Summer Music Camp draws 100 ‘campers’

All Saints Anglican Church in Peachtree City wrapped up its third annual Summer Music Camp 16 July as 100 children received certificates of completion from the the Rev. Michael Fry, rector.

Parents and staff enjoyed an end-of-camp musical finale by the participants, ages 5-12. Music director Shannon Bryan led the children in songs they had learned including: “Praise To The Lord, The Almighty,” and “All Creatures Of Our God and King.” Several children recited Bible verses and others accompanied songs with “praise-dancing.“ Read More»

Clearance sale is Saturday

The Second Chance Thrift Shop, an outreach of Brooks United Methodist Church, will have a giant clearance sale on Saturday, July 31, from 8:30 a.m. – 3 p.m. in the gym at Brooks UMC.

There will be a hamburger and hotdog lunch available (11 a.m. - 1 p.m.) for a donation, and a bake sale with homemade goodies.

Project Linus being ‘reborn’ at Community Christian

Community Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Fayetteville is revitalizing the “Project Linus” program which makes no-sew fleece security blankets, receiving blankets, quilts, crotcheted and knitted afghans and comforters for newborns and children,.

“Project Linus” volunteers provide new, handmade, washable blankets to be given as gifts to seriously ill or tramatized children (ages 0 -18). These blankets are distributed to local hospitals, DEFACS offices, police, fire and sheriffs departments, homeless shelters or anywhere that a child needs a big hug. Read More»

PTCUMC Preschool has fall openings for 3-year-olds

The Peachtree City United Methodist Preschool currently has openings for the upcoming school year in the two-day, three-year-old class.

To be eligible, children must be three years old by Sept. 1, 2010, and potty trained. The class meets on Tuesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. – noon, beginning Aug. 24.

Registration fee is $110, with monthly tuition $110 as well.

A Lunch Bunch hour is offered from noon to 1 p.m. each day for an additional fee. Read More»

Excavations in Israel to be discussed at White Oak

White Oak Presbyterian Church will have special services Sunday through Tuesday, Aug. 1-3.

The guest speaker will be Dr. John Currid, an ARP minister and archaeologist who is the project director of Bethsaida Excavations Project in Israel.

“Dr. Currid brings unique archaeological insights tobiblical studies,” a spokesperson said.

Services will be Sunday at 8:30 and 11 a.m., and 6 p.m., and Monday and Tuesday at 7 p.m.

White Oak Presbyterian Church is at 2796 Gordon Rd. at the intersection of Ga. Highway 54, south of Turin in Coweta County.

‘Radiance’women’s ministry starts in Aug.

Grantville Gospel Sings move to new location

The monthly Grantville Gospel Sings, which have been held in Grantville’s Railroad Freight Depot, will now be held in Grantville’s New Life Baptist Church, 5710 South U.S. Hwy. 29, directly across the road from Glanton Elementary School.

The sings will begin at 6 p.m. instead of 7 p.m., as they did in the Depot.

The schedule for July includes:Friday, July 23, One Accord from Columbus, Masters Touch from LaGrange, Denny Grimes from Columbus, and Abiding in the Vine from Columbus. Read More»
