Lenten services begin with Ash Wednesday at Church of Nativity

The Episcopal Church of the Nativity in Fayetteville will mark the beginning of Lent with three special services Wednesday, March 9.

The Holy Eucharist, including the liturgy for Ash Wednesday with imposition of ashes, will be celebrated at 7 a.m., noon, and 7 p.m. that day.

Beginning on March 16 and running through April 13, Church of the Nativity will conduct special Wednesday night Lenten programs. They will include a brief worship service at 7 p.m., a soup and bread supper at 7:30 p.m., followed by discussions on the theme of “Discovering Your Spiritual Gifts.” Read More»

Old-fashioned gospel sings will continue in Grantville

The old-fashioned gospel singings, formerly held at the Old Train Depot in Grantville, are now being held at the First Baptist Church in Grantville. Singings are hosted each forth Friday and Saturday night and are free.

The next singings will be on Friday, March 25 at 7 p.m. and will feature Voices of Grace from Columbus, Tonya Bean of Columbus, and One Accord, also from Columbus.

Saturday’s singing, March 26, will be at 7 p.m. and will feature The Paul Family from Buchanan, Through the Fire from Montgomery, Ala., and DeWayne Cook from Grantville. Read More»

‘Life Groups’ are for all ages at FFC

Fayette Family Church on Ga. Highway 54 recently started several new group ministries which are free and open to the community.

Called “Life Groups,” they run weekly through May 7.

Classes and activities include a cooking class taught by the pastry chef at Frank’s Old Mill, an exercise class for all ages, a weight loss class, Bible studies for the English and Hispanic communities, marriage groups, prayer groups, and several more.

Local church to be featured in movie

When Bethany United Methodist Church was formed in 1855, it was many years before the phenominem known as ‘movies’ would be on the scene.

This charming country church, located in the northeast corner of Fayette County, was chosen as the site of  movie, “Joyful Noise”. Several sites in the county are being used, including the Fred Brown Amphitheater in Peachtree City.

Some 150 members have been temporarily displaced, using the Parrott Funeral Home chapel for their Sunday services. Read More»

Marriage seminar

Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church, Peachtree City, recently hosted a Making Marriage Work Seminar for 59 couples. Organized by pastors Fritz Wiese and Miriam Beecher, the seminar used materials by Drs. Les and Leslie Parrott. Participants had a wide range of ages and backgrounds. PTC UMM will deliver pine straw, fertilizer next week

The United Methodist Men at Peachtree City United Methodist Church are still taking orders for their annual fertilizer and pine straw sales. Delivery will be next week, Saturday, March 5 and Saturday, March 12.

For the last 32 years the Peachtree City United Methodist Men have been selling fertilizer, lime and pinestraw to help various charities and ministries. This year a complete army of men, more than 100, are ready for the door to door campaign. Chairman of the event is Butch Hill. Read More»

Truett-McConnell choir to perform

The college choir from Truett- McConnell College in Cleveland, Ga., will join members of the Flat Creek Baptist combined youth and adult choirs for a performance the weekend of March 19 and 20. Ben Caston will direct.

Dr. Emir Caner, president at Truett-McConnell, will be the guest speaker at the morning worship service on Sunday, March 20.

Flat Creek Baptist is on Flat Creek Trail between Ga. Highway 54 and Tyrone Road.
