COS Children’s Christmas musical set for this Sunday

Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church will present a children’s Christmas musical on Sunday, Dec. 5, in the sanctuary at 6 p.m.

“The Best Christmas Present Ever” tells the story of a group of children who plan a birthday party for Jesus, and then try to publicize it on television.

The cast is headlined by Emily McDowell, Natalie Robichaux, Lindsey Poff, Morgan Wiese, Jessica Knowles, Ansley Jacobson, Ashleigh Shriner, Michael King, Carson Robichaux, and Cassie Crosby.

Help decorate Veterans’ tree with personalized Christmas balls

The Civitans and United Daughters of the Confederacy are offering the community an opportunity to help decorate this year’s Veterans’ Christmas Tree in Fayetteville with personalized Christmas ornaments.

The tree will be placed in front of the Fayetteville Log Cabin and will be decorated with 6-8-inch Christmas balls. Individuals may purchase these ornaments for $10 in memory or in honor of a veteran. The name, rank, branch of service and date served will be printed on each ornament. Thanksgiving more than a holiday, but a way of life

A Baptist minister was summoned to the bedside of a Presbyterian woman who was quite ill. As he went up the walk towards the house, he met the little daughter running toward him and said, “I’m glad your mother remembered me in her time of illness. Is your minister out of town?”

The little girl replied, “No, he’s at home, but we thought it was something contagious and we didn’t want to expose him to it so we called you.”

The Thanksgiving holiday exposes us to something that should be contagious, and that’s a heart of gratitude. Read More»

Members of St. Andrew’s ECW are getting ready for their annual Christmas Fine Art & Craft Fair planned for Saturday, Dec. 4, from 9 a.m.-2 p.m., at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 316 Peachtree Parkway North, Peachtree City.

The event will include 24 juried vendors featuring jewelry, handmade cards, fine art, textiles, Christmas decor, wood sculpture and folk art, smocked children’s clothing, local honey, award winning jams, jellies and chocolate, natural soaps, fused glass, fashion accessories and more.

All proceeds benefit ECW programs and community outreach.

St. Paul Lutheran Church on Ardenlee Parkway in Peachtree city will have a Thanksgiving Day Service, Thursday, Nov. 25 at 10 a.m.

Christmas Mid-week Advent Services will be held Dec. 1 and Dec. 8 with two service times, 5 and 7p.m. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m.

On Dec. 15, Advent Worship will consist of a Children’s Christmas Program at 7 p.m. No dinner will be served this evening.

On Dec. 19, the church will host a Happy Birthday Jesus Party and Christmas Carol Singing at 9:30 a.m. during the Sunday School hour. No Bible classes will be held on this day. Read More»

COS plans chili dinner Wednesday; Advent celebration starts Nov. 28

Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church will mark Thanksgiving Eve with a chili supper and worship. The supper, an annual tradition, begins at 6 p.m. on Nov. 24. A variety of chilis and desserts will be offered.

Worship will begin at 7 p.m.; the guest preacher will be the Rev. Fred Wiese, father of COS senior pastor Fritz Wiese. Read More»

All Saints Anglican Church in Peachtree City will host a free Christmas music recital in its sanctuary on Saturday, Dec. 4 at 7 p.m. The theme for the event is “Home For The Holidays.”

New Hope’s ‘Living Christmas Tree’ will perform Dec. 7-12

New Hope Baptist Church in Fayetteville invites the community to its presentation of The Living Christmas Tree 2010, “The Journey Home.”

This year’s production features 400 adults, students and children taking part in the choirs, orchestra and cast, as well as a 40 foot “singing” Christmas Tree with thousands of computerized lighting effects.

The all new original story focuses on a soldier returning home from war with many questions about his faith.

Reconnecting with his father in a coffee shop, the young man’s “journey home” weaves a path through dramatic scenes from the Bible. Read More»
