New Lutheran Church now meeting in Peachtree City

The congregation will also have membership with Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ (LCMC). Special holiday GriefShare program will be offered tonight

“Surviving The Holidays” is a special GriefShare seminar offered by Holy Trinity Catholic Church to help those dealing with grief during the holidays.

“No matter how long it’s been, grief can make the holidays a painful time,” a spokesperson said.

The program will be offered Wednesday, Nov. 10, from 7-9 p.m. and Friday, Nov. 12 from 9:30-11:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Church, 101 Walt Banks Road in Peachtree City.

‘Ladybugs’ at Church of Christ surprise pollworkers with meals on election day

Voters coming into Precinct 14 were greeted with delicious smells coming from the kitchen of Fayetteville Church of Christ on Redwine Road on election day. The workers were surprised with coffee and cinnamon rolls for breakfast as well as soups and salad for lunch and dinner.

The Ladybugs (Ladies Better Understanding God through Service) of Fayetteville Church of Christ fixed and served meals for the election workers last week. The Ladybugs is a group of young ladies who do service projects throughout the year. Read More»

Griefshare for the holidays seminar planned at Fayetteville First Baptist

Fayetteville First Baptist Church will host a free seminar entitled, “GriefShare: Surviving the Holidays” Tuesday, Nov. 16, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the fellowship hall of the church’s worship center, 205 Stonewall Ave. (one block from the Fayette County Courthouse), Fayetteville.

Childcare will be provided if needed.

The seminar is for those facing the holidays after a loved one’s death and features practical suggestions and reassurance through video interviews with counselors, grief experts, and others who have experienced this particular type of grief. Read More»

Bethlehem Baptist will host ‘Male Chorus Night’ Nov. 13

Bethlehem Baptist Church will hold its annual “Male Chorus Night” on Saturday, Nov. 13, at 6:30 p.m.

Male choruses from a number of churches in this area will be participating in this fun evening of worship. Everyone is invited.Expect the event to last approximately two hours.

Brooks UMC plans barbecue, bake sale, thrift shop sale November 20

Members of Brooks United Methodist Church invite the community to attend their annual fall barbeque, bake sale and bonanza sale at the church gym Saturday, Nov. 20.

The men will be serving pork barbeque by the plate with all the trimmings.The ladies will have home made baked goods for sale to compliment this year’s Thanksgiving meal. The Second Chance Thrift Shop will be there with great bargains.

All Thrift Shop proceeds benefit local, state, and world missions.

Hopewell UMC members prepare health kits for UMCOR

Hopewell United Methodist Church in Tyrone collected hand towels, wash cloths, nail clippers, combs, toothbrushes, soap, and bandages to make health kits for people who are displaced because of natural disasters.

The United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) stores these health kits in a warehouse so they can be ready to ship to disaster areas.

The congregation met for supper on Wednesday, Oct. 6, to celebrate the end of the collection period. Hopewell assembled 200 health kits and shipped them to UMCOR to help with the next disaster. Read More»

Rebecca Reese Northrup, daughter of Christopher and Angela Northrup of Senoia, recently received the Sacrament of Holy Baptism during Sunday services at The Cathedral of Christ the King in Sharpsburg. Maternal grandparents Roger and Julie Risty of Sioux Falls, S.D. and paternal grandparents Walter and Gloria Sams of Athens, Ga., were present for the occasion.
