Shroud Encounter, a highly acclaimed 90-minute multi-media presentation, is coming to The Summit Church on Sunday, Feb. 13 at 7 p.m. The presentation is free and open to the public.

Summit will host benefit concert
Wilmesherr, a band from Middle Tennessee University, will be in concert Friday, Jan. 28 at The Summit Church. The concert will begin at 7 p.m. with doors opening at 6. There is no charge for admission; however canned goods are requested. The staple food items will be donated to Fayette Samaritans, food bank. Several years ago, I shared one of my more embarrassing moments with our Sunday evening congregation. I locked my keys in my car. In all of my years of driving, and of all the other dumb things I’ve ever done, I’ve prided myself in the fact that I’ve never locked my keys in my car (I have to admit I’ve done it one other time since). Mike Speck Trio to appear in Newnan

Two local Newnan churches, Westside Baptist Church and New Lebanon Baptist Church, will host the Mike Speck Trio when it comes to Newnan Sunday, Jan. 23.

Westside Baptist Church will host the singing group for the 11 a.m. morning worship hour. New Lebanon Baptist Church will host the group at the 6 p.m. evening service. Read More»

PTC UMC will start new GriefShare session Jan. 20

Peachtree City United Methodist Church will begin its new series of GriefShare meetings on Thursday, Jan. 20 at 6:30 p.m. in Room 308 at 225 Robinson Rd.

This is a support group for persons experiencing grief following the death of a friend or family member.

The cost is $15 dollars for workbooks. Scholarships are available.

The group meets for 14 weeks and no preregistration is required.

Bethany moves to Parrott’s temporarily
Because of the filming of a movie at the church, Bethany United Methodist Church is holding services at Parrott’s Funeral Home chapel now through Feb. 20. Services are expected to resume at the church on Feb. 27. Choir rehearsal will be suspended until after the filming. The movie, “Joyful Noise,” will star Dolly Parton, Queen Latifah, and Kris Kristoferson. Projected release date is January 2012.

Fayetteville First UMC offers Bible study opportunities

The Fayetteville First United Methodist Church will offer several opportunities for Bible study classes beginning in January.
