Providence UMC will offer several classes for the new year

Providence United Methodist Church will offer many new classes for 2013.

Classes offered on Wednesday evenings include:

Winning at Work and Home, a 16-week study for men, focuses on the areas central to a man’s life: career and family. It explores how a man can enjoy and engage his work and how he can relate to a woman in a whole new way.

The class is led by Tom Nolan at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesdays.

Financial Peace: Providence UMC will offer Dave Ramsey’s “Financial Peace” beginning Jan. 16. The class will meet on Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. for nine weeks. Read More»

PTCUMC will offer GriefShare, DivorceCare starting this week

The new session of DivorceCare at Peachtree City United Methodist Church will begin on Wednesday, Jan. 9. The meeting time is from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. weekly on Wednesday evenings at the church, 225 Robinson Rd. in Peachtree City.

DivorceCare is a weekly seminar and support group for people who are separated or divorced. It’s a place to be around people who understand and a place to obtain valuable information about ways to heal from the hurt of divorce.

Fayette Presbyterian Church to offer GriefShare, Bible studies

The GriefShare support group at Fayette Presbyterian Churcn will meet from 2-4 p.m. on Sundays starting Jan. 13. The course will continue for 13 weeks.

GriefShare is a Christ-centered grief support group. Through a program of videos, discussion group, and devotional material, individuals will be helped to find strength, healing, and tools to move forward in their daily walk through the deep pain of grief.

Providence UMC, Heritage Christian team up for class

Providence United Methodist Church and Heritage Christian Church are teaming up to offer a new 13-week DivorceCare and DivorceCare for Kids (DC4K) session beginning Monday, Jan. 28, at Providence UMC. Providence is at 592 Bernhard Road in Fayetteville.

Both programs are free and a nursery is also available for those children not participating in the DC4K. DC4K is for children ages 5 yrs - 12 yrs. Classes will meet each Monday evening (except for Fayette County school holidays) from 6:30 - 8 p.m. This Bible based program will provide the guidance and support needed to move forward. Read More»

Holy Trinity Catholic will start GriefShare classes January 16, 18

GriefShare, a Christian grief support group, is being offered at Holy Trinity Church, 101 Walt Banks Rd, Peachtree City, for those who are trying to cope with the loss of a loved one.
Sessions will be offered on Wednesday evenings and Friday mornings. Wednesday sessions will meet from 7-9 p.m. beginning Jan. 16 in room 103. Friday sessions will meet from 9:30-11:30 a.m. beginning Jan. 18 in room 205. To find out more about the program, contact Gayle Reddy, 770-631-8251

Dogwood’s GriefShare starts tonight
Community members who have experienced the death of a family member or friend are invited to register for the GriefShare program held at Dogwood Church. GriefShare will be held on Wednesdays from 7 - 8:30 p.m. beginning Jan. 9 in the office building of Dogwood Church, 975 Ga. Hwy. 74 in Tyrone. I heard about a woman who walked into her bathroom and found her husband weighing himself on the bathroom scales, sucking in his stomach. The woman thought to herself, “He thinks that he will weigh less by sucking in his stomach.”

So the woman rather sarcastically said, “That’s not going to help.”

Real Life Center receives donation from Staples Foundation

Fayette’s Real Life Center has been awarded $3,500 by Staples Foundation, the private charitable arm of Staples, Inc., under a new program that lets Staples associates direct donations.

According to Cathy Berggren, executive director, “This grant will be a great help — especially this time of year. Hard times are difficult no matter what, but somehow the weight is felt so much more during the celebration of Christmas. The money will be used to help families that have experienced job loss and assisting them as they back on their feet”. Read More»
