GreekFest headed this way Sept. 17

St. Christopher Hellenic Orthodox Church invites the community to attend GreekFest 2011, Saturday, Sept. 17 from 6:30 until ... at the Dixie Wing Commemorative Hangar at Falcon Field in Peachtree City.

The event will feature live music and dancing, ‘All You Can Eat and Drink’ Greek appetizers and salad, lemon chicken, pastitsio, and pastries, adult beverages and more.

Advance tickets at $50 per person can be reserved by visiting or by calling Tammy, 404-625-4663. Seating is limited.

Proceeds will benefit the building fund.

Bethlehem’s revival starts tonight

Bethlehem Baptist Church in Peachtree City will hold its Summer Revival Wednesday through Friday, Aug. 24-26, at 7:30 p.m., nightly.

The guest preacher on Wednesday will be the Rev. Greg Watson from Lamb of God Christian Church in Fayetteville.

Thursday night’s message will be delivered by the Rev. Leroy Hill of Morningstar Baptist Church in Newnan.

The Rev. Anthony Williams of United in Faith Christian Ministries in McDonough will conclude the revival on Friday night. Read More»

Fayetteville Christian Church celebrates 40 years this Sunday

Fayetteville Christian Church will celebrate its 40th anniversary on Aug. 28 with a meet and greet at 10 a.m., worship service at 11 and a Pitch-in lunch starting at 12:30 p.m. Special guests and former ministers expected to attend include Jack Fawley, David Chapman, Bob Mahan, Daniel Overdorf, and Dan Roberts.

Fayetteville Christian opened its doors in January of 1971. There were five founding families when the church first opened, one of which still remains a member today. Audrey Bates and Julie Stubbs are the only remaining charter members at Fayetteville Christian Church. Read More»

New Gospel Community Church meets on Friday evenings

Gospel Community Church is a new church in Fayetteville, now meeting in the Harvest Christian Community Center (383 Fayette Place, behind La Hacienda on Ga. Highway 85) on Friday nights at 7:30 p.m.

“Our mission is to make disciples on mission for Jesus,” said Gospel Church member Pat Reed. “Our vision is to see the city of Fayetteville transformed by the Gospel, through the preached word and Gospel community groups that will actively engage the culture. Woolsey Baptist youth complete mission in Seville, Spain

Woolsey Baptist Youth Josh Akin, Jessie Goergen, Sarah Georgen, Tori James and Brooke Rampy with then Youth Minister Jeremy Davidson and his wife, Tracy, shared the gospel in Seville, Spain June 25 through July 2. They were among 40 persons from three churches on the Spain Mission Trip. There were three crews with 10 in each one who shared testimonies.

During the trip, the group performed surveys, distributed water and shared a message from the Gospel of John.

Paul Baskin headlines services at The Center, New Gate Aug. 27, 28

On Aug. 27 and 28, New Gate Church will host Paul Baskin for worship and prophetic ministry.

“Paul has been a channel for the music of the Spirit for many years, including several years as the worship leader at IHOP in Kansas City,” a spokesperson said.

Baskin will lead in worship and will also minister to individuals prophetically — and often that comes out as a song for or over that person.

No. Fayette UMC plans 5K run/walk, barbecue, craft fair Sept. 24

Registration is taking place for North Fayette United Methodist Church’s Fifth Annual “Find Your Way” 5K Run/Walk, set for Saturday Sept. 24, at 8 a.m., at 847 New Hope Road, Fayetteville. A Craft/Flea Market and barbecue will be held after the 5K Run.

Early registration for the event is $20 through Sept. 12. After that the cost is $25 up to race day. The race will begin and end at the church.

The event is open to runners and walkers of all age groups.

This is an officially timed event, and will be held rain or shine. Runners start at 8:30 a.m. and walkers begin at 8:35 am. Read More»

A man took the bus to work. Since rain was predicted, he went to get the umbrella, but his wife stopped him.

“You have taken every umbrella we have and haven’t brought a single one back. I need that umbrella for my running around today. Just hope it doesn’t rain before you get to work.”

So he caught his bus, and by the time he was approaching his stop, the bottom fell out. It was pouring and he had a two-block walk to his office. Then he noticed a gentle Quaker sitting across from him with an umbrella propped in his seat. Read More»
