Four young Fayette women head for LDS missions

Four local young women, Madison Coburn (Fayette County High School), Lauren Jennings (Whitewater High School), Hannah Stebar (Sandy Creek High School), and Madison Houston (MacIntosh High School), will soon join the missionary force for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Madison Coburn has been called to serve in San Jose, Costa Rica, Lauren has been called to serve in Santiago, Chile, Hannah has been called to serve in Taipei, Taiwan, and Madison Houston has been called to serve in Curitiba, Brazil. Read More»

FPC will honor women at Valentine dinner Feb. 6

St. Gabriel KoC to sponsor free throw competition Jan. 27

All boys and girls ages 10 to 14 are invited to participate in the local level competition for the 2013 Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship sponsored by Fayetteville Council 11458 at St. Gabriel Catholic Church.

CBI sponsors dinner dance and more Jan. 26
Congregation B’nai Israel will sponsor an evening of dinner, dance, dance lessons and performances Saturday, Jan. 26, from 8 p.m. until midnight at the Newnan Community Theatre Company (#24 1st Avenue). The evening will feature the sounds of “Second Time Around.” The cost is $25 per person and includes live music and dinner. Coast Guard Academy cadets to perform at Holy Trinity Friday

The United States Coast Guard Academy Cadet Chorale will perform at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Peachtree City this Friday, Jan. 18, at 7:15 p.m.

Sarah Hohenberger, a 4/c cadet from Peachtree City, will be among the singers.

The group is comprised of Idlers (all male) and Fairwinds (female counterparts).The performance is part of the chorale’s winter tour to Savannah and the Atlanta area and is open to the public.

The Coast Guard Cadet Chorale is a select group of cadets, determined to be the top singers from the academy’s 50 -member official Glee Club. Read More»

COS to host southside Stephen Ministry churches this Thursday

Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church will host Southern Crescent Stephen Ministry churches on Thursday, Jan. 17.

Fellowship and refreshments begin at 6:30 p.m. with the program at 7.

“60 Plus Services for Seniors” is the theme for the evening.

Guest speakers are Marie Doyle, case manager at Fayette Senior Services, and Susan Gordon, Sixty Plus Manager at Piedmont/Fayette Hospital.

Stephen Ministry offers trained laypeople for one-on-one caring relationships for anyone experiencing a crisis. All interested persons are encouraged to attend the Thursday workshop. Read More»

Holy Trinity Catholic Church will offer GriefShare starting Jan. 16, 18

GriefShare, a Christian grief support group, is being offered at Holy Trinity Church, 101 Walt Banks Rd, Peachtree City, for those who are trying to cope with the loss of a loved one.

Sessions will be offered on Wednesday evenings and Friday mornings. Wednesday sessions will meet from 7-9 p.m. beginning Jan. 16 in room 103. Friday sessions will meet from 9:30-11:30 a.m. beginning Jan. 18 in room 205. To find out more about the program, contact Gayle Reddy, 770-631-8251
