Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church will offer a special service and activities at its property at 411 Palmetto Road, Tyrone, on Sunday, March 30. Worship begins at 12:30 p.m., but participants are invited to bring a picnic lunch to eat before worship begins.

The Georgia Singers

The Georgia Singers will appear at Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church at the 11 a.m. worship service on March 23. Directed by Dr. Franklin Green, the group is made up of older high school girls, college women, and young adult women. Local author’s book on abstinence available free to churches, ministries

The book, “The Abstinance Handbook: for Women and Girls throughout the World” by local author Kim Wilson, is available free to churches and ministries to distribute to women and girls free of charge through youth ministries, church services, women’s ministries, community outreach (by mail or door-to-door), Bible studies, etc. The book is being made available through The Loretta Johnson Global Abstinence Project. Hopewell seeks help with its Stop Hunger Now project

Hopewell United Methodist Church in Tyrone invites the community to help package over 10,000 meals that will be shipped to those in need around the world. This annual meal packing event will be held on Saturday, March 29, at 10 a.m, at the church.

The event is supported by “Stop Hunger Now,” an international hunger relief organization that coordinates the distribution of food and other life-saving aid to those in need. More than 75 countries are currently being served. The goal of “Stop Hunger Now” is to end hunger in the current generation’s lifetime. Read More»

Featured items include Tiropita (cheese filo triangles) for $10 per dozen, Spanakopita (spinach, onion, cheese filo triangles) also $10 per dozen, Tsoureki ( braided Easter bread) for $10 per loaf, and Koulouria (twisted cookies with or without sesame) for $8 per dozen.

B’nai Israel to sponsor comedy show, auction

Congregation B’nai Israel will sponsor a Comedy Show and Silent Auction Saturday, May 10, at 8 p.m. at Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church in Peachtree City. The show will feature Comedian Keith Barany,

Before the show, a silent auction will be held for items ranging from weekend getaways, to theater and special event tickets, spa packages, fine jewelry, electronics and more.

It’s not that hard. It’s Chance with a “y.” Chancey. Not Chaney. Not Chancy. Not Chauncey. Not Chandley. I’m not the Channel 2 weather man. It’s Chancey.

It might be simpler if it was Smith. But I guess Smith could become Smythe. Anyway, I’m used to people goofing up my name, but I had never lived around other Chanceys until I moved to Fayetteville.
