Heritage will present ‘Path to the Savior’

Heritage Christian Church in Fayetteville will present “The Lake Experience: The Path to the Savior” on Saturday, April 23 and Sunday, April 24, from 6-8 p.m.

“The Path to the Savior,” is a walking tour on the church’s lake property that is based on the miraculous, life-changing “touch” of Jesus as He lived out His walk of suffering. Special golf-cart accommodations will be available for those with special needs. Read More»

All Saints Anglican recreates processional into Jerusalem

All Saints Anglican Church in Peachtree City celebrated Palm Sunday and the beginning of Holy Week last Sunday with a processional commemorating the arrival of Jesus Christ in Jerusalem on the back of a donkey. All Saints Anglican Church in Peachtree City last Sunday began Holy Week celebrating the triumphal arrival of Jesus Christ on a donkey into Jerusalem. The service featured an outdoor processional that included a donkey, the Liturgy of the palms, “Roman soldiers” and chanting songs of praise.

During the service, Holy Communion was served and children read the Gospel account of Jesus’ betrayal, conviction and death.

At the conclusion of the service, those attending left the sanctuary in silence as the disciples themselves left Calvary in a state of confusion and dismay. Read More»

GriefShare starts May 5 in PTC

Beginning May 5, Peachtree City United Methodist Church will offer GriefShare each Thursday night from 6:30 – 8 p.m.

GriefShare is a Christ-centered Biblically based support group for anyone who has lost a loved one.

It is open to anyone in the community and surrounding area who has lost a spouse, child, a parent, a sibling or a close friend.

GriefShare is led by facilitators who understand the grief process and want to help. All facilitators have experienced the loss of a loved one and can identify with the emotions that result from the grief process. Read More»

First Presbyterian Church will have a rummage sale to help the youth go on a mission trip to Chattanooga for the second year in a row. The sale will be held Saturday, April 30, from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. First Presbyterian is at 206 Willowbend Rd., near City Hall and the Peachtree City Library.

Holy Week points to the ultimate sacrifice, then good news of Easter

Last Wednesday, the processional carrying the body of fallen soldier Jeremy Faulkner passed our church on the way to the funeral home in McDonough. Faulkner was killed March 29 when his unit came under enemy fire in the Konar Province of Afghanistan.

Faulkner’s body was flown to Falcon Field in Peachtree City, arriving around 11 a.m. Then Patriot Guard Riders and law enforcement officials escorted his body through Fayetteville and Lovejoy and into McDonough. Citizens lined the route to wave flags and show respect for this Griffin High School graduate. Read More»

‘Walk where Jesus walked’ at PTCUMC’s Journey to the Tomb

Peachtree City United Methodist Church is sponsoring an interactive event call “Journey To The Tomb” Saturday, April 16, that will allow people to witness a recreation of the final days of Jesus.

Set in a wooded area behind the church, the event will include interactive stations that depict the actions of Jesus on Palm Sunday, in the Garden of Gethsemane, during the Last Supper, during His crucifixion and His resurrection. Read More»

NHBC choirs to present selections from‘The Messiah’ this Sunday

The Sanctuary Choir and Friends of National Heights Baptist Church will sing Passion selections from Handel’s “Messiah” along with Joseph Martin’s “Whispers of the Passion” this Sunday evening, April 17 at 7 p.m. followed by a reception in the fellowship hall.

Other events scheduled for the week include a Maundy Thirsday service at 7 p.m. April 21, an Easter Egg Hunt and Community Car show on Saturday, April 23, and Easter Sunday service at 10:55 a.m. Sunday morning.

Providence Palm Sunday service features unusual art presentation

Providence begins Holy Week with a special day on Palm Sunday when children proceed up the aisle with palms at all three services.

At the 9 and 11:11 a.m. Contemporary Services, Todd Little, art teacher at Starr’s Mill High School, will begin worship painting during the opening music set.

Little, who shares his art at private and church functions, paints with his hands rather than brushes and takes about 30 minutes to complete artwork in the theme of the message and the music.

The traditional worship service at 10 a.m. includes choir, liturgy and piano. Read More»

COS Holy Week includes Crosswalk

Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church will start Holy Week services with Sunday of the Passion, on Saturday evening and Sunday morning, April 16-17. The Saturday service will be at 7 p.m.; Sunday services are at 8:30, 10:50, and 11 a.m.

Maundy Thursday, April 21, will be observed at two separate times: at a 12:15 p.m. midday worship service and at a 7 p.m. joint worship with First Presbyterian Church (at COS), featuring a combined choir from both churches. Dr. David Miller will preach. Read More»
