Life Line Screening offered Dec. 15

Fayette Family Church will host the life-saving services of Life Line Screening, the nation’s largest provider of community-based preventive screenings, which help identify risk of stroke, vascular disease and osteoporosis before the catastrophic effects of these conditions can occur. The event is open to local residents and will be held on Wednesday, Dec.15, at 1729 Ga. Hwy. 54 West, Fayetteville.

J. Barrett Owen accepts call to National Heights Baptist

The Rev. J. Barrett Owen

The Rev. J. Barrett Owen, a 2010 graduate of the McAfee School of Theology of Mercer University in Atlanta, has been called as pastor of National Heights Baptist Church, Fayetteville.

A resident of Atlanta, Owen has most recently served as pastor of Union Baptist Church, Pine Mountain. As a seminary and college student, he also served as youth minister, devotional writer and speaker, and camp and retreat pastor in a variety of national and international settings. Read More»

‘Love Feasts’ will be offered by Christ Our Shepherd Sat., Sun.

Christ Our Shepherd will offer Love Feasts in Moravian Tradition on Saturday, Dec. 11, at 7 p.m., and Sunday, Dec.12, at 6 p.m. A tradition of the Moravian Church since 1727, Love Feasts include serving specially-baked buns and coffee or apple juice to all worshipers. Adults will be given a beeswax candle dressed in a red paper “ruff.” Children will receive a small flashlight instead of a candle.

The theme for this year’s Love Feasts is “Before the Marvel of This Night.” The services include traditional and Moravian carols sung by everyone. Read More»

Have spaghetti with Santa

The Youth of Fayette Presbyterian Church on Ga. Highway 92 North will host their annual Santa’s Spaghetti Supper on Saturday, Dec. 11 at the church.

A fundraiser for the group’s 2011 ski trip, the supper will be at 5:30 p.m.

Suggested donation is $5 per adult and $2 per child.

After dinner, Santa will stop by for pictures with the children.

Harvest offers Saturday services

Harvest Christian Community Center, a division of Eleventh Hour Call Church, has begun having Saturday worship services at 10:30 a.m. each Saturday at 383 N. Glynn St., (Ga. Highway 85), Fayetteville.

Guest pastors from local churches will be invited to preach.
