Heritage, Providence will offer Divorce Care sessions

Heritage Christian Church will once again partner with Providence United Methodist Church to offer Divorce Care and Divorce Care for Kids this fall.

Group meetings will begin on Wednesday, Aug. 17 and run through Nov. 9. Meeting times are from 6:30 – 8 p.m. and will be at Heritage Christian Church, 2130 Redwine Rd., Fayetteville.

Churches, agencies, businesses join hands for free lunch program

This summer, 325 children from 119 families in the Fayette area were in need of a nutritious meal.

Thanks to the combined efforts of Fayette County Department of Family and Children’s service, area congregations, and the support of community partners, these children received a free lunch every weekday.

This year, Fayetteville First United Methodist Church, Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran, Peachtree City First Baptist Church, New Vision Church in Fayetteville, Peachtree City Presbyterian and the Islamic Community Center of Atlanta and Islamic Speakers Bureau helped with the effort. Read More»

The other day, I was finishing a very pleasant visit with a couple who had worshipped with us the previous Sunday. They walked me out the door, pulled the door shut, and then realized the door was locked.

Yes, the door was locked and the folks did not have a key in their pocket nor hidden outside. So what to do? It was hot and humid and we were already starting to sweat.

I called the office and one of our ministry assistants picked up a phone book, looked in the yellow pages and gave me a number for a locksmith listing in Fayette County. Read More»

COS day camp starts Monday

Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church in Peachtree City will offer a day camp July 25 – 29 for children who have finished kindergarten through fifth grade. The hours are Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.; Friday, 9 a.m.-noon. The camp will be led by five staff members from Lutheridge+Lutherock Ministries, Inc. (LLMI), which operates two retreat centers in North Carolina and one in Georgia. Two days will include trips off-site. A small number of openings still exist. FFUMC now registering for fall preschool and MMO programs

Fayetteville First UMC (FFUMC) Preschool and Mother’s Morning Out (MMO) invites families to register children for the 2011 – 2012 school year. FFUMC’s Preschool and Mother’s Morning Out (MMO) provides a Christian environment of learning for children ages one through four years old.

FUMC’s S.A.G.E. heads for St. Simons Island in September

The S.A.G.E. group (Senior Adults Going Everywhere) at Fayetteville First United Methodist Church is planning a trip to St. Simons Island Sept. 26 through 29 for an “Autumn Adventure: Tracing footsteps From the Past.” The group will stay at Epworth by the Sea on St. Simons Island.

The cost is $349.40 per person and includes lodging, eight meals, entrance fees plus $50 bus fee. The deadline to register is Aug. 26 and the trip is contingent on a 15 person minimum. Read More»

New Hope, Dogwood Baptist WinShape C3 starts Monday

Registration is still open for Winshape Camps C3, which will be hosted by New Hope Baptist and Dogwood Church, July 25-29. The day camp is open to all students who have completed first through sixth grade.

Camp runs from 7:30 a.m.- 5 p.m. at New Hope North Campus, 551 New Hope Road, Fayetteville (770 461-4337). Cost is $179 for a full week of camp. A deposit of $50 is due upon registration.

C3 combines sports and recreation, arts, Bible study and worship.
