A man took the bus to work. Since rain was predicted, he went to get the umbrella, but his wife stopped him.

“You have taken every umbrella we have and haven’t brought a single one back. I need that umbrella for my running around today. Just hope it doesn’t rain before you get to work.”

Heritage, Providence Divorce Care classes start tonight

Heritage Christian Church will once again partner withProvidence United Methodist Church to offer Divorce Care and Divorce Care for Kids this fall.

Group meetings will begin on Wednesday, Aug. 17 and run through Nov. 9. Meeting times are from 6:30 – 8 p.m. and will be at Heritage Christian Church, 2130 Redwine Rd., Fayetteville.

Episcopal Church of the Nativity has organized a children’s chime choir that will perform for the first time at the 10 a.m. service on Sunday, Sept. 11, which will be Rally Day to mark the beginning of a new Christian education year. Baskin to lead services at The Center, New Gate

On Aug. 27 and 28, New Gate Church will host Paul Baskin for worship and prophetic ministry. Baskin served several years as the worship leader at IHOP in Kansas City.Baskin will lead in worship and will also minister to individuals prophetically — and often that comes out as a song for or over that person.

New Gate Church, has partnered with Get Real Ministries for two venues for Baskin, which will allow for more people to benefit from his ministry. Read More»

FUMC’s S.A.G.E. heads for St. Simons Island September 26

The S.A.G.E. group (Senior Adults Going Everywhere) at Fayetteville First United Methodist Church is planning a trip to St. Simons Island Sept. 26 through 29 for an “Autumn Adventure: Tracing footsteps From the Past.” The group will stay at Epworth by the Sea on St. Simons Island.

The cost is $349.40 per person and includes lodging, eight meals, entrance fees plus $50 bus fee. The deadline to register is Aug. 26 and trip is contingent on a 15 person minimum. Read More»

No. Fayette UMC plans 5K run/walk, barbecue, craft fair

Registration is taking place for North Fayette United Methodist Church’s Fifth Annual “Find Your Way” 5K Run/Walk, set for Saturday Sept. 24, at 8 a.m., at 847 New Hope Road, Fayetteville.

A Craft/Flea Market and barbecue will be held after the 5K Run.

Early registration for the event is $20 through Sept. 12. After that the cost is $25 up to race day. The race will begin and end at the church. Read More»

The congregation of Christ the King Church in Sharpsburg recognized the 2011 college and high school graduates during the Sunday morning service on Aug. 7.

Kimberley Bond of Newnan received her bachelor of arts degree (summa cum laude) with a major in organizational psychology and development from American Intercontinental University. Bond, who works for Delta Air Lines, plans to pursue a master’s degree. Read More»
