McDonough Rd. will host VBS June 7-11

“Saddle Ridge Ranch” is the theme of McDonough Road Baptist Church’s Vacation Bible School scheduled for June 7-11 from 9 a.m. – noon. Crafts, recreation, refreshments, music and Bible and mission studies will highlight the week. Participants will present their VBS musical on family night, Thursday, June 10 at 6:30 p.m.

“This is going to be a great experience and we want to invite all boys and girls age 4 through 12th grade to be a part. We’ll be rounding up questions and driving home answers,” said Joni Owens, minister of children and preschool. Read More»

Christian City’s Annual Night of Hope planned for tomorrow

Christian City will host its annual Night of Hope event to benefit the Children’s Village on May 20 at the Georgia International Convention Center.

Tickets for the event are $125.

Guests will enjoy dinner, a silent auction and an inspiring message from Josh Sundquist, a Paralympic ski racer and nationally known inspirational speaker. He has been featured on CNN and in USA TODAY and has spoken to hundreds of thousands of people across the country. Read More»

Hopewell will host chicken barbecue, yard sale Saturday

Hopewell United Methodist Church in Tyrone will hold its annual Chick-N-Que this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets are $7.50 each.

There will also be a bake sale where desserts may be purchased to go with the meal.

The meal consists of half a barbecued chicken, slaw, baked beans, bread, and iced tea.

High tea and high fashion

Philoptochos Society (Friends of the Poor) of St. Christopher Hellenic Orthodox Church in Peachtree City sponsored its annual High Tea and Fashion Show on May 1. The group treated 80 guests to a delightful menu of tea sandwiches, Greek delicacies and more. Belk of Fayetteville sponsored the event and provided fashions by designers such as Ralph Lauren. All proceeds will go to charities supported by Philoptochos throughout the country and local counties.

James Charles Taylor was recently ordained to the office and ministry of deacon in services at The Cathedral of Christ the King, Sharpsburg. In addition to being assigned to serve at Christ the King, Taylor is a chaplain at Piedmont Fayette Hospital and is a certified law enforcement chaplain serving the Peachtree City Police Department. PTCUMC announces new summer worship schedule

From June 6 to Aug. 1, Peachtree City United Methodist Church will gather on Sundays with a new worship schedule composed of one worship service, a time for small group discipleship and Sunday school, as well as a time to fellowship with each other.

The summer schedule will be:

• 9:15 – 10:15 a.m., Sunday School for all ages;

• 10:30 – 11:30 a.m., Worship for adults and older children, and Sunday school for infants through fourth grade only;
