St. Paul plans Lenten services
St. Paul Lutheran Church in Peachtree City will hold mid-week Lenten services on Wednesdays, Feb. 29, and March 7, 14, 21, and 28, also at 5 and 7 p.m. with dinner between services at 6 p.m. The church is at 700 Ardenlee Pkwy. off Ga. Highway 74 in Peachtree City.

President of Nat’l Reform Jewish group to speak at B’nai Israel

Rabbi Rick Jacobs, president of the Union for Reform Judaism, will speak at services beginning at 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24, at Congregation B’nai Israel in Fayetteville.

Cobbert chosen as Redemption’s senior pastor

The elders, deacons and members of Redemption Fellowship have announced that the Rev. Stephan Cobbert has accepted the call to the position of senior pastor.

Cobbert comes to Redemption from Providence Church in Birmingham, Ala., where he served as senior pastor.

Prior to serving at Providence Church, Cobbert was instrumental in planting missions churches, both in Houston, Texas and Lithonia, Ga.

Cobbert received his masters of divinity and Th.M. from Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, Ga., in 1997.

He and his wife Monica now reside in Riverdale. Read More»

John Jacobs to present worship experience at FFC

John Jacobs and the Next Generation Power Force will present a worship experience at the Fayette Family Church, 1729 Ga. Hwy. 54 W, on Sunday, Feb. 26, at the 8:45 and 10:45 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. services.

COS announces Ash Wednesday, Lenten events

Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church in Peachtree City will offer two Ash Wednesday communion services on Feb. 22, one at 12:15 p.m. and another at 7 p.m.

For five Wednesdays beginning Feb. 29, Christ Our Shepherd will stage a drama series, “The People vs. Judas Iscariot: The Punishment Phase.”

The dramas will be from 7-7:30 p.m. at the church. The audience will serve as the jury as prosecution and defense attorneys present evidence based on the Bible and tradition.

Various witnesses will be “subpoenaed” to testify, including Peter, John and Mary Magdalene. Read More»

Lenten mission starts at Holy Trinity March 7

Fr. Andy Meiners, addressing the English-speaking community and Fr. Mark Wise, addressing the Spanish-speaking community, will lead the Lenten mission at Holy trinity Catholic Church on March 4-7 at 7 p.m.

The priests will help individuals live a more fruitful Lent giving new insight of some symbols which help them walk their journey with Christ.

A reflection will be offered after the daily 9 a.m. Mass for the benefit of those who are unable to come in the evening.

Providence teens join world hunger cause

This Friday and Saturday, teens from Providence United Methodist Church will join the efforts of hundreds of thousands of young people all over the nation who will set aside the usual “stuff” that fills their daily lives. Instead, they will do World Vision’s 30 Hour Famine because they say they want to “Overcome Hunger with Love” – the theme for this year.
