Several Christmas services planned at PTCUMC

Peachtree City United Methodist Church will host Christmas Eve services at 5, 7 and 9 p.m.

The 5 p.m. service will be a family worship service led by the Family Ministry team with a festive atmosphere. This is a child friendly service and will include the lighting of the candles. There will be childcare available for babies through PreK.

COS will hold Advent service tonight
Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church will offer its final mid-week Advent service  Dec. 14, from 7-7:30 p.m. “Taking the Story of Christmas Home” is the theme. According to associate pastor Miriam Beecher, “The worship service will have a multi-sensory creative touch.” Some of the traditions and practices to be explored are Christmas trees, wreaths, cards, lights and candy canes. The Shepherd’s Band and Logos Ringers will provide music. Christ Our Shepherd is on the corner of Ga. Highway 54 and Peachtree Parkway.

Flat Creek Baptist will host Sunday School training event

Flat Creek Baptist Church will host a Sunday School Training Event, “Light Unto My Path,” based on Psalms 119:105, Friday, Jan. 27, at the church.

Supper will be served at 6 p.m. followed by the training event from 7-10 p.m.

The cost is $5 each for Fairburn Association members and $15 each for non-Fairburn Association members.

There will be classes for leaders of all age groups (from preschool through adult) as well as pastors, Sunday School directors and more, led by acclaimed leaders from all over the state. Read More»

Providence will offer Clower classes in January

Ron Clower, author of “Jesus Christ: Centerpiece of God’s Universe,” wrote his book after years of leading studies on the Bible. He is currently leading a Wednesday night study at Providence United Methodist Church, using his book as a resource and will offer the 12-week study again beginning Jan. 11 at 6:30 p.m. Sign up for the study by emailing Leslie at llunsford@provumc.com.

Several years ago, some members of our Sunday School class were having trouble choosing a girl’s name for their soon-to-be-born first child. They were driving through the north side of Atlanta one afternoon and passed “Melody Lane” and said, “That’s it!”

The baby was a she and her name became Melody Lane. Thank goodness they didn’t pass Honeysuckle Circle.

Kiewit Infrastructure South Co. in Peachtree City held an Employee Appreciation Day called “Putt Fore Pantry” the Friday before Thanksgiving. Employees collect food items to benefit the Real Life Center and use the food that is donated to build a nine- hole miniature golf course throughout their building. COS ‘Love Feasts’ set for this weekend

Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church in Peachtree City will offer Love Feasts in Moravian Tradition on Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 11 a.m. The 10:50 GraceFlock Service will participate in the Love Feast.

The public is invited to arrive 30 minutes early to get a good seat and to hear the “musical offering” by five instrumental groups. Over 35 instrumentalists will join Sanctuary Choir and Joyful Noise Ringers to present traditional carols, Moravian carols, and Christmas anthems. Read More»

FFUMC’s Christmas dinner, auction, concert planned for December 18

In place of Fayetteville First United Methodist Church’s (FFUMC) 2011 Tour of Homes this year, members will host a silent auction and dinner before the Candlelight Concert on Sunday, Dec. 18 at 5 p.m. This year marks the 12th performance of the Candlelight Concert featuring violinist Sonja Squires and pianist Rick Massengale.

Along with all of the great instrumentalists, the concert will feature vocalists Kristy Cline and Dr. Franklin Green. Read More»
