Leave toys, food, clothing at CCC

Community Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) 349 Kenwood Rd., Fayetteville, is a drop off point for Toys for Tots, non-perishable food and paper goods for Fayette Samaritans and is collecting coats and sweaters for the needy. Donors are asked to call in advance (770-460-9745) before dropping off any items to the church.

The Real Life Center in partnership with the Atlanta Community Food Bank will hold its next Mobile Food Pantry on Thursday Oct. 27 in the Dogwood Church parking lot at 975 Ga. Hwy. 74 North. A variety of food items will be distributed free of charge on a first come, first serve basis to families in need of food assistance. For more information contact the Real Life Center, 770-631-9334. The center, located in Tyrone, is open Monday - Thursday, 9 a.m. - noon and Thursday from 5-7 p.m.

Church bikers visit recovering bishop

Members of the motorcycling community at the Cathedral of Christ the King in Sharpsburg took their first ride together, which included a stop at the home of Bishop John Holloway and family. The group left Christ the King after morning services on Sunday, Oct. 16, and made the 40-mile ride to the city of Griffin. Father Jason administered Holy Eucharist to the Holloway family. John Holloway served as the Bishop of the Diocese of the Mid-South from 1997 until June 2007 when he suffered a massive stroke. Read More»

Holly Grove will sponsor Shape Note Singing service Sunday

Holly Grove AME Church, 400 Holly Grove Church Rd., Peachtree City, will sponsor a Shape Note Singing Worship Service, featuring the Middle Georgia Note Singers, this Sunday, Oct. 23, at 1:30 p.m. at the church.

Shape Notes are a music notation designed to facilitate congregational singing, Shape notes of various kinds have been used for over two centuries in a variety of sacred music traditions practiced primarily in the Southern region of the United States. Read More»

Fran Kolts

Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church will celebrate with Fran Kolts her 105th birthday this weekend. Mrs. Kolts is a regular worship attender, and she works every Thursday morning with “Holy Folders,” the church’s group of volunteers who collate and assemble the church’s worship bulletins and newsletters. Summit announces Fall Festival

The Youth Ministry of The Summit Church will sponsor a Fall Festival Saturday, Oct. 22 from 4-8 p.m. Activities include face painting, a corn -hole tournament, pony rides, and a costume contest.

Tickets are $10 for adults, $7 for children ages 5-17, kids under 5 are free. Price includes a chicken dinner, all games and a raffle ticket for a cruise to the Bahamas. Other prizes include tickets to Stars and Strikes Bowling, one free month at Bikram Yoga, and more. Read More»
