Heritage Reformed Baptist plans VBS

Heritage Reformed Baptist Church will hold Vacation Bible school June 16-20 from 8:30 a.m. until noon at the church, 150 Lester Rd. next to Cleveland Elementary. Children who have completed kindergarten through those in fifth grade are eligible to attend.

The theme is “Faith Expedition — God’s Treasure Revealed.” Students will travel across time through the lives of Moses, David, Daniel, Matthew, Paul and Silas in a program that incorporates skits, music, hands-on activities, rewards and much more. Read More»

Fayetteville First UMC plans Summer Music Camp in July

Children in the community are invited to “Summer Music Camp 2014: Hymns 4 Kids” at Fayetteville First UMC July 7-11.

Rising kindergarten through rising sixth grade students will explore hymns and faith through instruments, drama, art, and singing with leaders Joan Aycock, Angela Goodwin and Carson Thaxton. New this year — ukulele.

Cost is $60 before June 15 ($70 after) and registration is limited.

CDM to offer evangelism seminar

Christ Discipleship Ministries (CDM) in Fairburn is calling all disciples of Christ to attend a free one-day seminar on evangelism and discipleship Saturday, June 17 from 11 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. The speaker will be prophet and pastor Timothy Frazier.

Do we take the Bible for granted?

One recent morning, one of our students had a strong prompting that she should take her Bible to school. She put it in her book bag, and as she began every class, she’d open her book bag and glance at her Bible. As she started her last class, this time she took her Bible out of her bag.

Immediately, a student sitting next to her asked, “Is that a Bible? May I please see it? My parents will not allow me to have a Bible. I would love to look at it for a moment.”

This student from Southeast Asia held the Bible in her hands for the first time, and was so grateful to get to quickly scan it. Read More»

Family history class is tonight

The Fayetteville Family History Lab will hold its monthly family history class on Wednesday, June 4, from 7 – 8:30 p.m. at 2021 Redwine Rd., in rooms 108-109. The event is hosted by the Fayetteville LDS Church.

The class will be “Exploring the Vastness of familysearch.org,” the official and free website of the LDS Church’s Family History Library based in Salt lake City. Users need not be members of the LDS Church to use the site, and no one will be contacted unless users request it. Read More»

The Summit plans yard sale
The Summit Church will hold a church-wide yard sale on Saturday June 7, from 8 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the church,  1373 Ga. Hwy. 92 S. Fayetteville. Proceeds from the sale will go to the building fund. The Summit is building a Family Resource Center for the community which will house a food pantry, tutoring center, and a bank of computers and resources for job-seekers.

Connection Church plans ‘Weird Animals’ VBS next week

A summer kids’ event called Weird Animals VBS will be hosted at The Connection Church, 398 Corinth Rd., Jonesboro, from June 9 - 13 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. “Weird Animals: Where Jesus’ Love Is One-of-a-Kind” is for kids from kindergarten to fifth grade (last grade completed). Kids will participate in Bible-learning activities, sing songs, play teamwork-building games, make and dig into yummy treats, experience Bible adventures, collect Bible Memory Buddies, and test out Sciency-Fun Gizmos they’ll take home and play with all summer long.
