Several senior adult groups at Fayetteville First United Methodist Church meet throughout the year for fellowship, exercise, luncheons and day trips.

Are you winning over worry?

They say baseball is America’s national pasttime. Forget baseball. I think it’s worry. We worry so much and seem to enjoy it; surely there’s some good in the practice of worry.

However, Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount prohibited worry (Matthew 6:25-34). Worry is a useless, unproductive activity that wastes time and energy, divides our focus, causes physical harm, and stunts our spiritual growth. Worry is a joy stealer.

The bottom line is, worry is a sin that demonstrates a low trust in God. If Jesus prohibits something and we do it, it’s disobedience. Read More»

The public is invited to a Service of Hope at Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church, Feb. 4 at 7 p.m. The featured speaker is Karl Dietmeyer, musician and conductor, Delta pilot, and love researcher. Dietmeyer has investigated ways to more effectively and creatively express love for several years. Music will be led by the Christ Our Shepherd Flute Choir. These bi-monthly services always include communion and prayers for healing.

The United Methodist Men at Peachtree City United Methodist Church are now taking orders for their 34th Annual Fertilizer and Pine Straw Sale.

Delivery dates will be on Feb. 23 and March 2. Products are priced comparably to big box retailers in the area and the men deliver to individual homes in the local area free of charge.

For the last 34 years the Peachtree City United Methodist Men have been selling high quality products at reasonable prices that work together to make lawns more beautiful. Read More»

FPC youth will sponsor ‘Souper Bowl’ event to fight local hunger

The Fayette Presbyterian Church (FPC) youth group will sponsor its annual “Souper” Bowl during the Super Bowl football game Sunday, Feb. 3. The youth group will host the party to watch the Super Bowl game on the fellowship hall’s big screen.

The youth group will also have a Chili Soup Cook-Off. Member and visitor chili soup dishes, including appetizers and desserts, will be received at 5 p.m., with “dinner” by 5:30 pm. The game starts at 6:30. The inside tailgate party will continue through half-time. Read More»

Pastor John Fraser was installed as the pastor of Word of God Lutheran Church in Peachtree City on Sunday, Jan. 27. Pastors Bill White, Dean, NALC (North American Lutheran Church), and Pastor Rod Stephenson of the LCMC ( Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ), along with service committee president Bill Drury and vice president Tim Ruck participated in the Rite of Installation. Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church in Peachtree City will host a choral concert Thursday, Jan. 31, at 7 p.m. featuring Valdosta State University Chamber Singers (shown) and Cantabile Chorus of McIntosh High School. FPC will honor women at its Valentine’s dinner on Feb. 6

Fayette Presbyterian Church (FPC) will hold its 2nd Annual Valentine’s Day dinner on Feb. 6 at 5:30 p.m. to honor the women of the church. The men’s group will prepare and serve the meal to the ladies. All men will be wearing semi-formal black tuxedo attire.

Women who are not members of FPC and their families also are invited to attend.

For first time attendees there will be “no cost” to the women or their family guests, but reservations are required. Phone or email ahead to “reserve a meal” for each person. Read More»
