Fayette Samaritans honored for service

The Fayette Samaritans celebrates 20 years of serving needy Fayette Countians this year.

It first began in a couple of small rooms in back of the Georgia Department of Family and Children’s Services on Ga. Highway 85 South.

I was cleaning out my desk and found my “Handyman Club of America” sticker. I remember the day I received it. I usually don’t mess with junk mail, but this piece caught my eye and immediately my self-esteem received a boost.

Edgefield Baptist’s revival starts tonight

The Edgefield Church Family in Fayetteville invites the community to join them Wednesday, Feb. 29 – Friday, March 2 at 7 p.m. nightly for their three-day revival.

Speakers will be Edgefield’s very own Elder Daniel Smart and Pastor Melba Rankins from Restoration International in Pensacola, Fla. Smart will be the speaker Wednesday, Feb. 29 – Thursday, March 1. Rankins will conclude the revival services on Friday, March 2.

Thursday Lenten lunches continue

The Lenten Lunch series which started on Ash Wednesday continues at Fayetteville First United MethodistChurch. Lunches are served at noon each Thursday in the fellowship hall. A light lunch is served followed by an inspirational speaker. The lunch is hosted by each of FFUMC’s United Methodist Women’s Circle groups. The cost of the lunch is $2.

Nativity to host bishop this Sunday

The Rt. Rev. Keith B. Whitmore, assistant bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Atlanta, will celebrate the Eucharist and preach at the 10 a.m. service Sunday, March 4, at the Church of the Nativity in Fayetteville.

Epps, Gardner graduate from St. Michael’s Seminary

Two men in the Diocese of the Mid-South of the Charismatic Episcopal Church recently graduated with a master of ministry degree from St. Michael’s Seminary.

Jason Douglas Epps,of Senoia, who had also received a bachelor of arts degree from Georgia State University, and James Franklin Gardner of Tyrone, who had also received a bachelor of science degree from Southern Polytechnic Institute, received their master of ministry degrees in a ceremony at the Cathedral of Christ the King in Sharpsburg where both serve as clergy. COS will host Lenten dramas

For five Wednesdays beginning Feb. 29, Christ Our Shepherd will stage a drama series, “The People vs. Judas Iscariot: The Punishment Phase.”

The dramas will be from 7-7:30 p.m. at the church. The audience will serve as the jury as prosecution and defense attorneys present evidence based on the Bible and tradition.

Various witnesses will be “subpoenaed” to testify, including Peter, John and Mary Magdalene.

Actors appearing in all five episodes are Dave Byers, Clint Barbour, JoAnne Pritchett and Tom Rehak. The public is invited and there is no charge. Read More»

Danny Wilson is new pastor at Lisbon Baptist in Fayetteville

Members of Lisbon Baptist Church announce that they have called a new pastor for the church. Danny Wilson, of Newnan accepted the position effective Feb. 19.

Wilson formerly served at Unity Baptist Church in Newnan.

He and his wife Lynn have two sons, Brian Wilson and his son Zach, a senior at Georgia Southern University, and Cliff Wilson, his wife Lauri and their children Max, and Amelia, all of Newnan. Read More»

Christ Discipleship Ministries, 114 W. Campbellton Street, Fairburn, will conduct a 13-week study entitled “Soul Healing” which will meet every Wednesday evening from 7 - 8:15 p.m. beginning March 7.

The teacher, Pastor Carolyn Driver says,”Soul Healing is working out your own salvation by dealing with the issues of the mind, emotions and will.”
