Fayetteville First UMC invites the community to Workshop of Wonders, this year’s VBS, from 9 a.m to 12:15 p.m. from June 23 to 27.

Children ages three (as of Jan. 1, 2014) through fifth grade are eligible to attend.

“In Workshop of Wonders,” a spokesperson explained, “children will learn what it is to build and imagine with God.”

Activities include lessons, music, recreation, local and global missions, and art.

Coweta plans Sacred Harp Singing Convention, classes

Newnan’s historic courthouse in downtown Newnan will be the site of a Sacred Harp Singing Convention next month when the Coweta Visitors Center hosts the event from 9:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Sunday, July 20, with dinner on the grounds at noon.

Father Charles “Chuck” Shores was reinstated to the priesthood in the Charismatic Episcopal Church during a recent service at the Cathedral of Christ the King in Sharpsburg. Shores was originally a minister in the Wesleyan Church prior to being ordained to the priesthood by Bishop Douglas Kessler. Later, under the authority of another bishop, Shores resigned his orders due to matters of conscience. His journeys over the last few years took him to Orthodoxy and then to Anglicanism. Shores has “come home” to the CEC and is assigned as a priest-in-residence at the Cathedral of Christ the King. Read More»

Hopewell UMC to host ‘Inside Out’ VBS

Hopewell United Methodist Church in Tyrone will host a “Living Inside Out” Vacation Bible School, June 16-19, from 9 a.m. until noon. “Living Inside Out” takes a look at the parables Jesus told and teaches how to take the principles from those stories and put them into practice in everyday life. All attendees and their families are invited to participate in Family Night, June 20, from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

Crafts, music and snacks will be provided each day. Middle and high school youth are encouraged to volunteer to help with the program. Read More»
