Brooks UMC’s thrift shop plans big sales for anniversary celebration

Second Chance Thrift Shop in Brooks will celebrate its fourth birthday the weekend of June 20-22 with special sales and much more.

Begun as an outreach of Brooks United Methodist Church in June of 2009, Second Chance is staffed entirely by volunteers and seeks to assist families who have limited incomes as well as encourage sustainable purchasing practices of recycled or reused goods. COS will have family, kids’ activities all summer

The Children’s Ministry at Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church, “The Pathway,” will host summer events for children and families from now into August.

Terrific Tuesdays are for elementary-age children. Advance registration is preferred. Go to www.coslutheran.org and click on the Terrific Tuesdays/Family Fridays link, or send an email to children@coslutheran.org.

The Conquering Hell in High Heels Conference will be held Thursday, June 27, through Saturday, June 29, at Christ Church, White Water, 1577 Ga. Hwy. 85 South, Fayetteville.

Kingdom Living Ministries to host Community Day June 29

Kingdom Living Ministries International in Peachtree City will host a Community Fun, Family, and Friends Day on Saturday, June 29, from noon until 6 p.m.

The event is being held in partnership with community residents, community leaders and business partners to further strengthen the quality of family, friends, and faith.

Kirby was a good kid from a good, middle class family just like the families in our community. Her driver’s license was only four days old. She and about 40 other classmates from Shiloh High School in Gwinnett County were partying one Friday night several years ago.
