Southern Crescent Chorale raises $4,200 for Children's Village at Christian City

The Southern Crescent Chorale is happy to announce that the annual Benefit Concert held on Saturday, March 27 raised over $4,200.00 for the Children's Village at Christian City. In addition to a performance by the Southern Crescent Chorale, under the direction of Janice Folsom, the crowd was blessed with the beautiful music of the Woodward Academy choirs under the direction of Stephen Rotz and Suzanne Woodruff. Originally from Dyer, TN, Martha Ellen and her husband Frank have resided at Winwood Retirement community in Marietta, for the last seven years. Prior to moving to Marietta, they made their home in Peachtree City, GA.

King William McElwaney, III, 67, of Jupiter, Fla.

King William McElwaney, III, 67, of Jupiter, Fla., passed away suddenly on Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at his residence.

Born in Atlanta, Ga., he had been a resident of Jupiter for nine years, coming from Palm Beach, Fla. Prior to retirement, he was the director of operations for Delta Air Lines at LaGuardia Airport, Logan Airport and JFK.

Mr. McElwaney was the coordinator for the 1996 Summer Olympics for Delta Air Lines in Atlanta. He recently started his own property management company, Complete Home Check of Jupiter. Read More»

SFM readies for spring yard sale

Square Foot Ministries is now accepting items for its annual yard sale set for sometime this spring.

Items being accepted include furniture, books, jewelry, small appliances. knick knacks, toys, children’s shoes and clothing, linens, sporting equipment and household goods in good, saleable condition. Adult clothing and mattresses/box springs will not be accepted.

Join Nat’l Hgts. for trip to Austria, Oberammergau

The community is invited to join National Heights Baptist Church members on a trip to Austria and the Oberammergau Passion Play, leaving Atlanta on August 26.

The original Passion Play began in 1634 when villagers of Oberammergau vowed to perform a play depicting the suffering, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, if God would spare its residents from the bubonic plague.
