Summer Wednesdays starts tonight
Woolsey Baptist Church will kick-off its Summer Wednesdays program on May 28 at 6:30 p.m. Everyone is invited to join in for free pizza and music, Student Redneck Olympics and children’s water fun (wear clothes that can get wet). There is something for everyone:  Preschool, children, students, ladies Bible study, and for adults, Crazy Busy Group, choir and prayer group. Prophetic training will be offered at CDM in Fairburn

Christ Discipleship Ministries (CDM), 114 W. Campbellton St., Fairburn, will offer Prophet Chambers Prophetic Training Sunday, June 8, at 5 p.m. The speaker/prophet will be Timothy Frazier. The training is for those who feel called to the office of the prophet, who want to understand the role of the prophet in the 21st Century, and who want to learn about the gift of prophecy — the dos and don’ts.

The difference between a prophet and a psychic also will be discussed.

Patricia Anne Meyer, 88

Patricia Anne Meyer, 88, of Fairhope, Ala., passed away on April 17, 2014 at a local healthcare facility.

Pat was born in Lima, Ohio and was raised in Montezuma, Iowa. She proudly served as a WAC in WWII and spent her working life as a legal secretary. Pat enjoyed music and sang in "The Sweet Adelines." While living in Peachtree City, she loved golf and was an active member of the "Nine& Eighteen Holers." Pat moved to Alabama two years ago to be near her family and enjoy the Gulf Coast. Read More»

Gladys Cathy Garr

Gladys Cathy Garr, 98, of Union City passed away May 22, 2014.

Mrs. Garr was the retired owner of The Dwarf House of Gifts at Greenbrier Mall. She was also a retired Officer of Cascade Garden Club, and a member of Fayette Presbyterian Church.

Brown wins his PTC district; Harbin, Studdard in runoff for Ga. Senate

Confounding his vocal critics, Fayette County Commission Chairman Steve Brown in Tuesday Republican voting overpowered two former mayors of Peachtree City to win the Post 3 slot without a runoff with a 52 percent total.

Brown has no Democrat opposition in November, so he is assured of another four years on the commission.

History, legacy of the English Bible coming to Christian City Thursday

This Thursday, Christian City will host “The History and Legacy of the English Bible.” Collector Michael Morgan will speak on the “first generation” of the English Bible from Wycliffe through the King James Version. This free event is open to the public and sponsored by Christian City’s Life Enrichment Department and the Christian City Men’s Club.

Morgan will speak in the Sparks Inn Auditorium on the Christian City campus in Union City at 3 p.m., with a question and answer session to follow. Items from his collection will also be on display in the auditorium from 1 – 3 p.m. Read More»

Mr. Bobby Kenneth Carson, age 81 of Brooks, passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at Brightmoor Hospice.

Mr. Carson was born in Brooks, Ga. on April 24, 1933. He is preceded in death by his parents, Oscar Blalock Carson and Annie Bates Carson, his wife, Jacqueline Evans Carson. He was retired from Wheels and Brakes and a member of Brooks Baptist Church. Read More»

Holly Grove fish fry, yard sale planned
Holly Grove AME Church will host  a Fish Fry and Yard Sale Event on Saturday, May 17, from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the church, 400 Holly Grove Church Road, Peachtree City. Items for sale will include fish dinners, hot dogs, sodas, snacks, and a variety of treasured items.
