Why do politicians believe they deserve free stuff that the rest of us don’t get? If they’re really in politics to serve their constituents, why should they take gratuities from special interests that want to influence or buy their vote? I’m waiting for the Republican Party to say they won’t accept speaking fees, tickets, lunches, dinners, alcohol, fishing, hunting, or vacation trips (disguised as fact-finding missions), golf outings, or any other gift that might be considered an enticement. Mark L. Zonneveld, 28, passed away May 16th at his home in Alpharetta, Ga.

Mark was born on December 1, 1981 to Carla and Diederik Zonneveld. He attended elementary school in Sparland, Ill., middle and high school in Lafayette, Ind., and graduated from Tennessee Tech with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering in 2006. Read More»

Radio station finds ‘new life’ with new frequency

WMVW, New Life FM, has been broadcasting inspirational music and bible teaching out of Griffin for 15 years, on 90.7 FM, which reached areas such as Mansfield, Conyers and Covington. This past Wednesday, at 12:30 p.m, a switch was flipped for a new frequency for the station, 91.7 FM, this one reaching places like Peachtree City, Senoia and Tyrone. Read More»

Mrs. Ezzelle C. Lambert, 98, of Forest Park

Mrs. Ezzelle C. Lambert, 98, of Forest Park, passed away on May 18, 2010.

Mrs. Lambert is survived by her brother, Gene Cleveland and his wife Yvonne of Smyrna; her step-son, John T. Lambert, Jr. of Jonesboro; three grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Christian City’s Annual Night of Hope planned for tomorrow

Christian City will host its annual Night of Hope event to benefit the Children’s Village on May 20 at the Georgia International Convention Center.

Tickets for the event are $125.

Guests will enjoy dinner, a silent auction and an inspiring message from Josh Sundquist, a Paralympic ski racer and nationally known inspirational speaker. He has been featured on CNN and in USA TODAY and has spoken to hundreds of thousands of people across the country. Read More»

Holy Trinity’s Griefshare starts tonight
Griefshare, a 13-week Christian video/discussion support group for those who have lost a loved one,will be offered at Holy Trinity Church at 101 Walt Banks Road in Peachtree City. Each GriefShare session is self-contained so one can begin attending at any time. Sessions will be offered on Wednesday evenings from 7-9 p.m. and on Friday mornings from 9:30-11:30 a.m. beginning May 19 and May 21. Something’s not right about bidding

I just read the article about the technology bidding process. I knew something was up with the technology process back in October of 2009. Why?

I was invited, so I went to the Superintendent’s Roundtable Discussion on 21st Century Technology. I asked some questions about the presentation and had some comments about the software that was used for the presentation.
