Mrs. Joyce Jordan Allen, 67, of Stockbridge

Mrs. Joyce Jordan Allen, 67, of Stockbridge, passed away on Thursday, December 23, 2010.

Mrs. Allen is preceded in death by her husband Aaron D. Allen, her father William Thomas English and her brother Tommy English.

She is survived by her son Jason and Joanie Allen of Fayetteville; grandchildren, Laney, Miller and Hadley; mother Ivelyn English of Stapleton; sisters, Ellen and Vic Vickers of Tifton, GA and Krystal and Ronald Ponder of Metter; sister-in-law Sandra English of Hartwell, GA; nieces and nephews, Greg Ponder, Robin Brock, Ivey Vickers and Will English. Kids fill shoeboxes for the needy

The youth at Southside Church recently conducted a project called “Together We Can.” They collected items and filled shoeboxes for the needy kids in the local community this Christmas.

Altogether they collected 183 pairs of shoes in October, leaving them 183 boxes to fill. The kids were challenged to turn these shoeboxes into toy boxes for children. A total of 664 toys were donated and 216 shoeboxes were filled. The shoes and the toys were donated to the Real Life Center for families in the local area.
