Chad Long, Locust Grove, spoke to the members of the Clyde Thomason Detachment #1325 of the Marine Corps League during their July meeting. Long is the Department of Georgia Jr Vice Commandant and the District 3 Vice Commandant. He is also a member of the Military Order of the Devil Dogs where he is a Pedigree Devil Dog and serves as the Pound 350 Dog Robber and the Georgia Pack Mad Dog. Read More»

Couple celebrates 70 years together

Austin Williams met his future wife, Margaret, at an outdoor skating rink in College Park in 1940. They were both 17 years old.

At five minutes to 9 p.m., the staff flashed the lights, alerting the skaters of the approaching curfew. Austin, known as A.U. to his friends, asked Margaret if he could walk her home. She lived a block away and agreed.

When they reached her house, A.U. asked if he could see her again. She said yes. Read More»

Inman VBS starts July 17
Inman United Methodist Church, 151 Hills Bridge Rd., Fayetteville, invites all children to get cookin’ at Shake it up Cafe’ Vacation Bible School which begins Sunday, July 17 and ends on Thursday, July 21. Heritage Christian to host WinShape C3 Day Camp

Registration is still open for Winshape C3 Camp, which will be hosted by Heritage Christian Church, July 11-15. The day camp is open to all students who have completed first through sixth grade. Camp runs from 7:30 a.m.- 5 p.m. Cost is $179 for a full week of camp. A deposit of $50 is due upon registration.

Several members of the youth group from Rolling Hills Baptist Church, along with parents, recently participated in a “Monday Mission” at the Georgia Baptist Children’s Home in Palmetto,

The group played Ultimate Frisbee with the children at the home, and then got down to some hard work spreading dirt, cleaning out some rock beds, and miscellaneous other tasks that the staff at the home needed help with.

Monday Missions is an annual youth service program conducted by Rolling Hills that keeps teens busy during summer vacation serving others. Read More»

CDM will offer Prophet Chambers Training
Christ Discipleship Ministries (CDM), 114 W. Campbellton Street, Fairburn, will host a seminar titled Prophet Chambers Training Saturday, July 9, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The speaker will be Prophet Timothy Frazier.The training is for those who feel called to the office of the prophet and for those who want to understand the role of the prophet in the 21st Century.
