Free flu shots are available for qualifying uninsured and low-income residents of Fayette, Coweta and South Fulton counties. Please call 770-681-0157 to reach the Healing Bridge Clinic, located at 215 Willowbend Rd., Peachtree City, to schedule an appointment if you are uninsured, have Medicare A or D, PeachCare or Medicaid.

Brown: ARC may face court over changes to its bylaws

While it was not as he had hoped, Fayette County Board of Commissioners Chairman Steve Brown noted that the efforts he and others made to get changes to proposed Atlanta Regional Commission rules were not in vain.

“We did get some changes in the system,” Brown said a few days after the Oct. 22 vote to approve the proposed new bylaws. Brown is a member of the ARC board by virtue of his election position. Read More»

Holiday theatre season approaches

Over 40 of the area’s most popular and talented performers will gather at Southside Theatre Guild from December 11-14 to present the world premiere of an original holiday show, “The Collins Family Christmas” destined to be a holiday favorite.

The production is written and directed by Chris Shellnutt with musical direction by Ed Richardson. Shellnutt most recently directed “The Nerd” at Southside Theatre Guild and last year’s special presentation of “Smoke on the Mountain.”

Richardson most recently directed “Always Patsy Cline”and appeared in “Smoke on the Mountain” at Southside. Read More»

Get ready for 'chair-ity' event Dec.4

Some wonderful volunteers, community leaders and the local art community are coming together to host the 8th annual Chair-ity event Dec.4 at the Dolce in Peachtree City benefiting the abandoned, abused, and otherwise homeless children who live in the cottages at The Children’s Village at Christian City. Our kids are so blessed to have this support.

A half-dozen burned dogs — Is it evil or just ignorance?

Fayette Animal Hospital has treated 6 in the past 6 months from S. Fulton

Six badly burned dogs have been found in and around Fulton County in the past six months and five of them were treated in Fayette.

A Rottweiler, Dante, was found first, with burns covering his backside. Then 4-month-old pit bull-boxer mix Baloo, and 12-week-old lab mix, Cubbie, soon after. The worst was Tiberius, a Rottweiler around 5 years old, who was found with second- and third-degree burns covering his back and with blood seeping from his paws. Read More»

Hopewell’s Fall Festival is tonight
Hopewell United Methodist Church in Tyrone will host a Fall Festival  tonight, Oct. 29, from 5 to 7 p.m. The festival will feature “Touch the Truck,” with fire trucks, trash trucks, and other vehicles, as well as Face Painting/Tattoo Station, Bouncy Castle, Decorate a Pumpkin, Mummy Wrap, and a costume contest with prizes for ages 3-12.
