Learn tango, foxtrot, at Brooks UMC beginning March 16

Beginner Tango and Foxtrot will be taught in an hour and a half class at Brooks United Methodist Church beginning March 16 through April 13. (Classes will not meet Easter weekend.) These two classes will be taught from 7 until 8:30 p.m. for four weeks.

The cost is $35 per person for the entire session or $10 per person as a drop-in. No partner is required.

Two certified dance instructors will guide students with proper foot and styling movements. Read More»

Dr. Carmen McDonald-Ashman

Dr. Carmen "Cherry" McDonald-Ashman passed away Feb. 23, 2013.

She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She is lovingly remembered by her two children, Natalie and Sean; her grandchildren, Annalise, Jazzmin, Sean, Jr. and Cierra; her nieces Candice and Stacy; extended family, many friends, colleagues and patients.

Second Chance Thrift Shop in Brooks will have a huge sale this weekend, Thursday, Friday and Saturday (March 7, 8, and 9). All shoes and winter clothes are just $1. Mary Lou Joyner Dollar, age 76, Brooks

Mrs. Mary Lou Joyner Dollar, age 76, Brooks, Ga. died Thursday morning Feb. 28, 2013 at Southwest Christian Care Hospice following her battle with stomach cancer.

Mary was born in Henry County on Feb.18, 1937.

The Ga. International Convention Center was overflowing on Feb. 20 as representatives from the region made their way to College Park for the 2013 South Metro Development Outlook conference. Among the speakers from across south metro Atlanta were Fayette County Commission Chairman Steve Brown and Fayette County Development Authority CEO Matt Forshee.
