Ban big garbage trucks at 4:30 a.m.

Many years ago we moved to a quiet Ebenezer Church Road from the Carlings Brewery area in Atlanta for peace and quiet of a farm/residential area.

Suspense story opening in Fairburn

Theatre lovers have a treat in store this weekend in Fairburn.

The suspensful “Wait until Dark” opens this weekend at the Southside Theater Guild in Fairburn. The play tells the story about a cool-as-ice psychopath smooth talking his way into the home of an unsuspecting, recently blinded housewife. Unbeknownst to her, she is harboring a dangerous prize, and he’ll use every trick to get it. Spend an evening on the edge of your seat with the genre Hitchcock made classic. Inez Stallard Meade, 93, of Atlanta, Ga., formerly of Mullens, West Va., passed away on April 20, 2013.

Born in Scott County, Va., Mrs. Meade was the daughter of the late Orban H. and Arlie Emily Compton Stallard.

Ballroom dance offered at Brooks UMC

From May 4-June 1, two ballroom dances will be taught at Brooks United Methodist Church in Brooks. The classes last four weeks and each class is an hour and a half, from 7-8:30 p.m. The cost is $35 per person for the entire session, or $10 per person as a drop-in. No partner is required. 

Two certified dance instructors will guide students with proper foot and styling movements.

Young LDS missionaries head for Brazil

Conner Leavitt, Madison Houston and Alex Jenkinson

Three former McIntosh students: Conner Leavitt, Madison Houston and Alex Jenkinson, will soon join the missionary force for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in Brazil.
Conner will serve in Sao Paulo, Alex in Belo Horizonte and Madison in Curitiba.

A reduction in age requirements for Mormon missionary service will now allow young women to begin service at age 19 (formerly 21) and young men to serve at 18. Applications for missionary service have increased dramatically from 700 weekly applications to about 4,000. Read More»
