White Oak barbecue coming up Oct. 5
The 30th Annual Fall Barbecue at White Oak Presbyterian Church will take place on Saturday, Oct. 5, from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. Perennial favorites — barbecue plates, quarts of Brunswick stew, and pounds of barbecue — will be $8 each. Proceeds support White Oak’s foreign and local missionaries and missions. White Oak Presbyterian is in Coweta County at 2796 Gordon Rd., near the intersection of Ga. Hwy. 54, between Sharpsburg/Turin and Luthersville.

Directors from COS travel to Iowa for training seminar

Melissa Jacobson, Jeremy Hall, and Candace Robichaux (L-R) of Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church are experiencing intensive training at Wartburg Seminary.

Three Family Ministry directors are at Certification School offered by the Center for Youth Ministries at Wartburg Theological Seminary, Dubuque, Iowa.

Candace Robichaux works at primary level, with children through fifth grade, Melissa Jacobson with middle school youth, and Jeremy Hall with high school youth.

They are in the midst of “a seven-day intensive training experience that is supplemented by six weeks of reading assignments, online blogging sessions and webinars,” according to the seminary. Read More»

Nativity to bless animals Saturday
The Episcopal Church of the Nativity in Fayetteville will sponsor its fifth annual Blessing of the Animals and Pet Fair at the Fayette County Office Complex from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28. Many other activities are planned including contests and dog obedience demonstrations. Food and drink will be on sale. The Rev. Rita Henault, rector of Church of the Nativity, will bless pets every hour on the hour from noon to 3 p.m. at the county office parking lot gazebo.

Amy worked for the Atlanta and Fulton County Police Departments in Atlanta, Ga. for 19 years and Camelot Condominiums in College Park, Ga. for 20 years.

Amy is survived by her husband, Murray Pritchett; two children, Elizabeth Avera and Marshall Pritchett; daughter-in-law, Anna Pritchett; grandchildren Jessica Eberhardt, Christine Cole, Holly and Michael Avera, and great grandchildren Gabrielle and Tyler Cole. Read More»

Middle school fellowship starts at WOG
Wednesday, Sept. 18 is the kickoff night for middle school fellowship at Word of God Lutheran Church in Peachtree City.  Each Wednesday all sixth through eighth  graders are invited to meet at 6:30 p.m. for dinner, discussions on age appropriate topics, lessons, games, and singing. Partial cloverleaf now favored for Hwy. 74-I-85 interchange

Every motorist using the Ga. Highway 74 exit at Interstate 85 knows that traffic congestion is an unfortunate way of life. And while plans to mitigate that congestion have been in place for some time, some relief may be in sight.

It appears that the potential for installing a partial cloverleaf rather than modifying the intersection using a diverging diamond might be in the offing once work is approved in the coming years. Read More»
