MRBC to present ‘Generations: A Coming Together’

The Celebration Choir and Orchestra of McDonough Road Baptist Church will present “Generations: A Coming Together,” this Sunday, Aug. 10, at 10:55 a.m.

“This special worship experience is under the direction of minister of worship Mark Karki and will feature selections and narration that will exalt the Savior and enrich the lives of believers,” said MRBC’s pastor, David Chancey.

The church is located at 352 McDonough Rd., just past the department of driver’s services building.

The service begins at 10:55 a.m. and childcare is provided.

Woolsey starts new Sunday school year
Woolsey Baptist Church, 115 Hampton Road in Fayetteville, will have a Meet the Teacher/New Sunday School Year for Children and Parents on Sunday, Aug. 10 at 9:30 a.m. This begins the new church year and is for children K through sixth grade. The new Awana year begins  on Wednesday, Aug. 13 at 6:30 p.m. Awana is for children three years old through sixth grade. Free promotional course to be offered by Atlanta Bible College

Pastors from local churches, lay leaders and individuals are invited to take advantage of the free Bible College course promotion this fall semester at Atlanta Bible College in McDonough.

The purpose of the promotion is to let the public know about Atlanta Bible College and give church leaders and members an opportunity to go back to school to complete a theology degree or to start school and obtain a quality Biblical education. A one year foundation certificate does not require a GED.

Joel Jay Bass, age 77, of College Park

Mr. Joel Jay "Sam" Bass, age 77, of College Park passed away Monday, July 21, 2014.

He was born to the late Lucille McFadden Bass and Alden G. Bass. Mr. Bass was a Graduate of Cadiz High (Class of 1954) and a United States Air Force Veteran (1954-1957). He graduated Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics in 1959 and started working at Eastern Airlines (LaGuardia Airport) the same year. In 1960 he was awarded the Presidential Award for saving a Lockheed Electra from a fire at a terminal gate. He was an accomplished private pilot and rebuilder of general aviation aircraft. The evening, hosted by The Christian City Arts Alliance, included live music performed by vocalists and the Peachtree Pops String Quintet. Richard Nash’s book and play, “The Rainmaker.” The musical centers around Lizzie, a spinster woman, who lives in her family’s ranch, in a hot and drought-stricken American Southwest town.
