Laskey, Jackets gear up for big game against Florida State

Even the casual sports fan anywhere in the state knows about Georgia Tech’s overtime win over Georgia last weekend in Athens.

For every current member of the Yellow Jackets it was the biggest game of their careers. But that sentiment will only last seven days, as Georgia Tech looks to take another giant step on the national stage this weekend.

Students save for a cause

St. Paul Lutheran School’s students have been collecting their chapel offerings since the beginning of the school year for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

They surpassed their goal and collected a total of $650.30.

Caregivers team up for ‘Toys for Tots’

This holiday season, Piedmont Fayette Hospital is teaming up with Piedmont Newnan Hospital and physician practices in Coweta and Fayette counties to support the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation.

Piedmont “elves” have been busy delivering collection boxes throughout the two counties. So far, more than 100 boxes have been distributed to 70 locations. Toys will be collected through Dec. 16.

Toys for Tots is collaborating with local organizations in Coweta and Fayette to ensure these toys are distributed to local families in need. Read More»

Word of God Lutheran Church in Peachtree City begins its weekly Advent services tonight ,Wednesday, Dec. 3.  A soup supper begins at 6:30 p.m. followed by a table talk devotion. William Ralph McBroom, 96

Reverend William Ralph McBroom was born in Lamar County on August 19, 1918. He entered heaven on December 1, 2014 at the age of 96. He is known as Ralph to his family, but in the business world, he became known as Bill McBroom. He was loved as Papa and Grandpa by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mr. McBroom was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Read More»

Daniel Anthony Depweg, 56, passed away in McDonough, Ga. on November 30, 2014 at his home. He was born on February 3, 1958 in Hamilton, Ohio. Dan was married to Carrie Tolmie in 1981, and they raised two children together, Holly and Chris.

Dan attended Providence College and Fairfield University. He held management positions for Fed Ex, Control, Aramark, Sodexo, and Lick-Wilmerding High School. Dan resided in several states including Ohio, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, California, and Georgia. Read More»
