Mr. Cleburn “Dick” Durward Tyree, 79, of Fayetteville, passed away on Tuesday, October 12, 2010.

Mr. Tyree proudly served his country in the USAF. After 32 years, he retired from Delta Air Lines as a foreman in the engine shop.

Stephen Martin Steen, 57, of Fayetteville

Stephen Martin Steen, 57, of Fayetteville, died October 11, 2010.

His family and flying were his passions in life. Mr. Steen was a Navy pilot for 7 years. Following his military service, he was a flight trainer for Burnsaid-Ott before beginning a career in commercial aviation flying for People Express and then American Airlines.

Quilters donate pillowcases to Gracie's Closet

Quilters donate pillowcases to Gracie's Closet

Members of the Quilters Guild of the Southern Crescent displaying community service pillowcases made as part of the One Million Pillowcase Challenge.  The group will donate these pillowcases to Fayette Youth Protection Homes Gracie's Closet.  Join the Quilaters for an upcoming meeting.  They meet in the evening on the fourth Thursday of the month and during the day the first Friday of the month.  E-mail qgscmembership@gmail.com for more information.

Talent show at Whitewater featured diverse performers

Teria Litman placed first singing “At Last”

Whitewater High School’s annual talent show on Oct. 2 was a fun-filled evening of something for everyone.  Twenty-eight acts entertained the audience with talents such as singing, dancing, dramatic presentations and several multi-piece bands.

“It was a fun evening of great entertainment for the audience and a chance for Whitewater’s many talented students to shine,” said Clayton Duggan, Whitewater High School Choral Director.  The talent show is sponsored by the Whitewater Choral Department.
