PTC UMC will start new GriefShare session Jan. 20

Peachtree City United Methodist Church will begin its new series of GriefShare meetings on Thursday, Jan. 20 at 6:30 p.m. in Room 308 at 225 Robinson Rd.

This is a support group for persons experiencing grief following the death of a friend or family member.

The cost is $15 dollars for workbooks. Scholarships are available.

The group meets for 14 weeks and no preregistration is required.

Shroud of Turin presentation coming to Fayette’s Summit Church February 13

Shroud Encounter, a highly acclaimed 90-minute multi-media presentation, is coming to The Summit Church on Sunday, Feb. 13 at 7 p.m. The presentation is free and open to the public.

Anna Lane Clark and Justin Thomas Friel were married Saturday, February 27, 2010 at 4:00 pm at First Fayetteville United Methodist Church in Fayetteville, Georgia.  The officiating minister was Reverend Daniel Scott Hagan of Waverly Hall, Georgia. 

The bride was given in marriage by her father, Michael Eugene Clark.  Her Maids of Honor were sisters Suzanne Whitfield Clark and Catherine Lee Clark.  Other bridesmaids were cousins Mary Margaret Lee of Atlanta and Elizabeth Lee Beck of Atlanta, and friends Kathryn Gray Lyall of Atlanta and Megan Ruth McLees of Atlanta.    Read More»

Girl Power — Legacy Theatre brings Off-Broadway hit ‘The Marvelous Wonderettes’

One of the most dynamic periods for women in recent history was between the late 1950s and the late 1960s and the musical, “The Marvelous Wonderettes,” which opens Friday at The Legacy Theatre in Tyrone, explores this era through the story of four friends. The first act is set at the senior prom of Springfield High School in 1958 where the Wonderettes, four girls with big hopes and dreams, perform. The second act takes place 10 years later at their 10 year reunion. Things have changed for the girls, now women, and there are more opportunities available to them now. Read More»

Caregiver workshops offered at FSS to better understand and manage diagnosis of dementia

Caregiving for a loved one with Alzheimer’s or related dementia can be overwhelming. To better address the diverse needs of caregivers, Fayette Senior Services (FSS) and Piedmont Fayette Hospital will co-host two highly informative workshops offered by Sixty Plus Older Adult Services of Piedmont Hospital (Atlanta). Both workshops feature geriatric care professionals from Piedmont Hospital’s Sixty Plus Older Adult Services program, which provides educational and supportive programs designed to enhance the well being of older adults and their families.
