Fayette being asked to rezone 18 acres on Hwy. 85N

A property owner is requesting for a rezoning that would allow a mix of office, commercial and light industrial uses on an 18-acre site off Ga. Highway 85 north of Fayetteville.

The Fayette County Commission is slated to consider the rezoning at its meeting Thursday night, which begins at 7 p.m.

The site, which is north of Roberts Road, already has a Storage Xxtra business on it, and currently is zoned solely for light industrial use.

The developer touts the existing use of the property as a “self storage facility and incubator businesses.” Read More»

Despite pleas from parents, high school students, traditional math stays out

The Fayette County Board of Education on April 19 took up the issue of continuing with the school system’s high school integrated math curriculum endorsed by the state or returning to the traditional math curriculum. F’ville man arrested for child molestation

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office announced April 26 that a Fayetteville man has been arrested on child molestation charges relating to inappropriate sexual behavior with a juvenile over a two-year period.

Sheriff’s spokesperson Brent Rowan said Vick Cataldo, 61, was arrested April 15 and charged with child molestation. Rowan said the case involved Cataldo engaging in inappropriate sexual behavior over a two-year time frame with a juvenile at a residence on Kite Lake Road. That time frame occurred between March 2009 and March 2011, Rowan said. Read More»
