All Saints’ Anglican’s annual music camp set for July 11-15

All Saints Anglican Church in Peachtree City will conduct its annual free children’s Music Camp July 11-15. The featured theme, “Sing To The Lord A New Song,” will be evident in traditional hymns and praise songs, as well as scripture verses and messages.

Curriculum for the camp is a potpouri of music, singing, dancing, and instruction in various instruments, composition, and art. It also features contests, games and snacks. No previous experience is required. Read More»

Garlock signing books at PTC library Sunday

Terry Garlock was a Cobra helicopter gunship pilot in the Vietnam War. In December, 1969 he was shot down in a firefight. Garlock was disabled: trapped in the wreckage with a broken back and paralyzed legs. The enemy was nearby. Two fellow pilots, John Synowsky and Graham Stevens, risked their lives by landing to help Terry and his fellow crewmember, Ron Hefner.

Among his awards are the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, and Distinguished Flying Cross. Read More»

3 injured in collision involving deputy

None of the injuries believed to be life-threatening

Three people were injured late this morning in a collision between a sheriff's deputy and a minivan on Ga. Highway 314 at White Oak Way, just north of the Fayette Pavilion shopping center.

None of the injuries were life-threatening, but the deputy and two victims in minivan were taken to Atlanta Medical Center and Grady Hospital in downtown Atlanta, emergency medical officials said.

The deputy was responding to a reported shooting when the crash occurred, officials said. Read More»

Gordon Lewis Haygood, age 70 of Fayetteville

Mr. Haygood was born in Acworth, GA on January 24th 1941 to the late Mr. James Thomas Haygood and Ms. Lorene Martin. He was preceded in death by his sister Ms. Imogene Wilkey.

Mr. Haygood is survived by his wife of 51 years Mrs. Julia E. Haygood and daughter Summer Haygood , both of Fayetteville. He is also survived by his brother Grady T. Haygood of McDonough, sister-in-law Nancy Smith of Mentone, Ala., God daughter Christine Cole of Fayetteville, special “granddaughter” Kera Parr of McDonough and many nieces and nephews. Read More»

Augusta man charged in credit card theft

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office on June 17 announced the arrest of an Augusta man on charges related to the theft of credit cards stolen at a Fayetteville restaurant then fraudulently used in Fayette County and in Atlanta.

Thirty-one year-old Antonio Larry, of Augusta, was charged on June 1 with with entering auto, financial transaction card fraud, and 12 counts of financial transaction card theft, according to sheriff’s office spokesperson Brent Rowan. Read More»
