Peachtree City UMC plans Centering Prayer workshop

Peachtree City United Methodist Church invites the community to a Centering Prayer Workshop on Saturday, Feb. 27, from 8:30 a.m. - 3 p.m.

“Centering Prayer helps open minds and hearts to the presence of Christ and to deeper relationship with him,” a spokesperson said. “Rather than replace other forms of prayer, Centering Prayer casts a new light and depth on the meaning of them. Based in Christian tradition, the practice of Centering Prayer was developed as a way of praying that leads one beyond conversation with Christ to communion with Christ through silence, solitude and simplicity.” Read More»

The All Saints Anglican Church Altar Guild honored Lorraine Harvey recently as she stepped down as its ministry leader. Harvey had led the group since the church was formed several years ago. The new team leader, Patsy Burdeshaw, praised Harvey’s dedication and expertise as she presented her with a bouquet of roses. The guild also is giving the church a set of crystal altar cruets in Harvey’s name.

Awards won at Regional Literacy Competition

After months of rehearsing and winning school and county-level competitions, students from Robert J. Burch Elementary, Cleveland Elementary, Fayette Middle and Rising Starr Middle brought home awards from the 2010 Griffin RESA Regional Literacy Days Festival. Read More»

SFM readies for spring yard sale

Square Foot Ministries is now accepting items for its annual yard sale set for sometime this spring.

Items being accepted include furniture, books, jewelry, small appliances. knick knacks, toys, children’s shoes and clothing, linens, sporting equipment and household goods in good, saleable condition. Adult clothing and mattresses/box springs will not be accepted.

SAGE headed for Junaluska

The SAGE group (seniors) at Fayetteville first UMC will spend March 14-16 at Lake Junaluska, staying at the Lambuth Inn, touring the United Methodist World Museum, and sightseeing in Waynesville.

Cost is $130 per person for a double room or $200 single.

PTC looks into $25 tree removal fee

The Peachtree City Council is considering adding a $25 fee for all tree removal permits.
