Police hopeful public will ID hardhat bank robber

The lone gunman who robbed the SunTrust Bank off Ga. Highway 85 North in Fayetteville didn’t know it, but the bank had better than average surveillance cameras in place when he struck July 14.

Big boxes are not the answer for PTC

Sales taxes aren’t going to rescue the Peachtree City budget, and selling on the cheap city property near Line Creek so another big box store can be built is a short-sighted plan.

This new shopping center will not generate more sales tax, but only shift sales and sales taxes from the Target and Kedron Kroger, Peachtree Crossing, Westpark, Braelinn, Publix and Peachtree East and other existing shops. COS day camp starts Monday

Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church in Peachtree City will offer a day camp July 25 – 29 for children who have finished kindergarten through fifth grade. The hours are Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.; Friday, 9 a.m.-noon. The camp will be led by five staff members from Lutheridge+Lutherock Ministries, Inc. (LLMI), which operates two retreat centers in North Carolina and one in Georgia. Two days will include trips off-site. A small number of openings still exist. FUMC’s S.A.G.E. heads for St. Simons Island in September

The S.A.G.E. group (Senior Adults Going Everywhere) at Fayetteville First United Methodist Church is planning a trip to St. Simons Island Sept. 26 through 29 for an “Autumn Adventure: Tracing footsteps From the Past.” The group will stay at Epworth by the Sea on St. Simons Island.

Michele Catherine Ramsey of Peachtree City and Peter Anthony Walton of Fayetteville have announced their engagement.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Gary Ramsey of Peachtree City and the late Martha Ramsey. She is finishing her degree in elementary and special education at Kennesaw State University.

The groom-elect is the son of Pete and Sherri Walton of Fayetteville. He is a first officer for Atlantic Southeast Airlines.

The couple will marry in Salt Lake City, Utah, in August, 2011, and will reside in Georgia.
