Sara Harp Minter Elementary School held their 3rd Annual Blaze’s Masquerade Ball pageant on Saturday, Feb. 6. The pageant included 51 contestants ages 3-18 years old.  The contestants were judged on poise, confidence, beauty, overall appearance and first impression.  The pageant raised $3,000 for the school. The Villages gets web-based ticketing system for 2010

This year, the Villages Amphitheater enters the modern age with a new, web-based ticketing system to assist with and enhance box office sales.

Officially launched on February 24, the new system allows users to view and purchase any available seats for the 2010 Summer Concert Series directly from the villagesamphitheater.com website. Continuing sale of used items at PTC library

The Friends of the Peachtree City Library conducts a continuing sale of used books, CDs, audio books, and videos at the library. Sale books are located on the shelves nearest the reference desk.  Hardcover books sell for $2.00; paperbacks, for as little as 50 cents; and electronic media, for $2.00. Books, music CDs, audio books, and DVDs may be donated at any time at the circulation desk. The Friends organization is a 501c3, non-profit organization and all sale proceeds benefit the library, including the children’s summer reading program. Read More»

Local author, Stephanie Hogg, a senior at Whitewater High School and President of the Creative Writing Club, will sign copies of her novel, “Pirate - The Unkindly Gentlemen” by Stephanie Lauren, at Books-A-Million at The Avenue in Peachtree City this Saturday, March 13, from 1-3 p.m. She started her love for writing at a very young age and has just recently published her first book.  Read More»

Fayette Outdoor YMCA staff members are busy gearing up for summer camp which begins June 1. Throughout the school year, teen members of the YMCA Leaders Club are busy with volunteer projects in the community.

These students and leaders, many of whom grew up with Y day camp, demonstrate the YMCA mission by volunteering to make a difference in Fayette County. Upcoming events include a mid-February baby-to-teen clothes drive for Clothes Less Traveled in Peachtree City, a nonprofit thrift shop that supports area charities, and the April 30 American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. Former mayor Dettmering inducted into FCHS Hall of Fame

Among the alumni of Fayette County High School honored at its Hall of Fame banquet, was the late Jack Dettmering. He served as a city councilman from 1963 to 1968 and as mayor from 1968 to 1988. Accepting the honor are from left Kathe Anderson, class of ‘73,  Ellen Lowe,  class of ‘79,  his wife, Mary Whitlock Dettmering, class of ‘48,  and Susie Keaton, class of ‘81. Local realtors visit Georgia legislators at state capitol

About 140 Realtors from across the state attended The Georgia Association of Realtors 2010 Legislative Appreciation Luncheon at the Georgia Railroad Depot adjacent to the State Capitol on February 22. The guest speaker was the Speaker of the House, David Ralston.

Speaker David Ralston, Speaker Pro Tem, Jan Jones and representatives of Lieutenant Governor Casey Cagle took time from their busy schedules to discuss legislation with the group. Among topics discussed were water conservation, the environment, the state budget, and mortgage foreclosures. Read More»

Janis Kraft of Coldwell Banker Bullard Realty in Peachtree City recently completed the special Coldwell Banker Military Market Training. This special training is part of the comprehensive Coldwell Banker Real Estate Corporation effort to serve the special housing needs of military personnel.

In completing the Military Market course, Kraft received training in the unique concerns, customs, and procedures related to military buyers and sellers. Included was instruction on veteran home financing and military housing allowance programs. Read More»

The Home Source, Realtors Qualifying Broker Linda Huff and Olivia Marquez, who is with the company’s Fayette office in Peachtree City, now hold the nationally recognized Short Sale and Foreclosure Resource (SFR) certification, specially equipping them to help buyers and sellers with these complicated transactions.

Nearly one-third of recently sold existing homes were foreclosures or short sales, according to a recent survey from the National Association of Realtors (NAR), who offers offers the certification. Read More»
