County badly failing its own mission statement

When you visit the Fayette County, Ga., website and scroll down to the county commissioners, you’ll find an interesting set of criteria. They’ve listed visions, missions, and other criteria we should all use to measure their performance. I’ve listed some of them below, and then applied a few observations I made.

Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker pulled a Harry Reid and figured out a way to get the collective bargaining bill passed in spite of the DemocRATs’ typical subversion of democracy.

Flat Rock plans revival, Men’s Day

Flat Rock African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church will hold a revival Thursday, March 17, at 7 p.m. The revival will be followed by the church’s annual Men’s Day on Sunday, March 20.

The revivalist for the Pre-Men’s Day Revival is the Rev. David Morrow, pastor of Knight’s Monumental AME Church of Stockbridge and former pastor of Holly Grove AME Church in Peachtree City. Morrow will also bring his church’s men’s choir with him. Read More»

Truett-McConnell choir to perform at Flat Creek

The college choir from Truett- McConnell College in Cleveland, Ga., will join members of the Flat Creek Baptist combined youth and adult choirs for a performance the weekend of March 19 and 20. Ben Caston will direct.

Dr. Emir Caner, president at Truett-McConnell, will be the guest speaker at the morning worship service on Sunday, March 20.

Flat Creek Baptist is on Flat Creek Trail between Ga. Highway 54 and Tyrone Road.

Holy Trinity’s Health Fair planned for March 26

Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Peachtree City will hold its ninth Annual “Dia de la Familia” Health Fair on Saturday, March 26, from 8 a.m. until noon.

Once again the fair will offer a variety of free health screenings for such things as breast cancer, diabetes, cholesterol, vision, hearing, dental and much more.

Representatives will be on hand from many local associations such as United Way, Head Start, Life Link and many others explaining to participants how they can benefit from the free services they offer. Read More»

Group ministry continues at FFC

Fayette Family Church’s group ministries, Life Groups, are free and open to the community and will run weekly through May 7. Classes meet in homes and at the church, 1729 Ga. Hwy. 54 W., Fayetteville.
