Shirley Marie Kimbler, 85, of Peachtree City

Shirley Marie Kimbler, 85, Peachtree City, formerly Hillsboro OH, passed away surrounded by loved ones July 20, 2011. She was preceded in death by her parents Stanley and Gladys Zink, brother Fred Zink, and sisters Mary Ann Buck and Freda Mae Roush. She retired from NCR in Peachtree City in 1992. Survivors include her husband George Kimbler; son Tim Kimbler Sr.; niece Patricia Roush; grandchildren Victoria Broccoli, Tim Kimbler Jr., Kayla Bruton, Louis Campese, Michelle Roush, Jeremy Bickford, Bradley Bickford, Sarah Spivey; and 13 great-grandchildren. Man arrested for fatal PTC crash

Peachtree City police have charged a Dawsonville man with second degree vehicular homicide relating to a crash in February that killed an East Point man.

Gene Lee Samples, 41, of Kilough Church Road was also charged with driving on the wrong side of the road and failure to maintain lane.

The Feb. 9 crash claimed the life of Thomas McGhee, 37, of East Point. The collision occurred shortly after 8 a.m. at the intersection of Ga. Highway 74 and Aberdeen Parkway.
McGhee was traveling south on Hwy. 74 at the time of the crash, and Samples was traveling north, police said. Read More»

Fayette schools schedule orientation sessions for new students and parents

It’s just about that time again. The Fayette County School System has announced the orientation schedule for the school year that begins Aug. 8.

Peachtree City police are again hosting the anti-crime event “National Night Out” Tuesday, Aug. 2 near the Kedron Village Target from 7 to 9 p.m.

Mrs. Lucy H. Yancey, 89, of Fayetteville, passed away July 20, 2011.

George A. Sirois, 73, of Peachtree City

George A. Sirois, 73, of Peachtree City, GA went to be with the Lord on July 16, 2011.

He was born in Lawrence, MA to the late Major General and Mrs. Edward D. Sirois. He graduated from Norwich University in 1962. Lt. Colonel George A. Siois, Ret. served proudly in the U.S. Army for 34 years, including two tours in the Vietnam War, a member of National Guard and the VFW.

He is survived by his loving wife Kathleen G. Sirois, his children Susan M. Watson, Daniel G. Sirois and grandchildren. He will be remembered as a man who loved his family and his country. Read More»

Local lawman finds Clayton murder suspect

Riverdale teen accused of shooting Clayton Co. deputy

A suspect wanted for murdering a Clayton County sheriff’s deputy in Riverdale earlier today was spotted this evening by a Fayette County investigator participating in the manhunt, The Citizen has learned.

Jonathan Bun, 17 of Riverdale was arrested early this evening as more than 200 law enforcement officers from surrounding agencies participated in the search.
Deputies and detectives from the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office took part in the search, including the Hawk 1 aviation unit. Read More»
