Juvenile Justice Forum at Sams Auditorium, Apr. 27

Prominent Georgia attorney and author J. Tom Morgan will present information that every parent and teen should know. He will be joined by a panel of local experts from the school system and law enforcement to answer questions from a panel of students and parents about Georgia law and school rules pertaining to teenagers. This free, and open to the public, Juvenile Justice Forum will take place Tuesday, Apr. 27 at 7 p.m. at Sams Auditorium in Fayetteville. Fayetteville resident to compete in Triathlon and Poker Run

Fayetteville resident and Safelite AutoGlass employee Mark Walker will travel to Las Vegas to compete alongside 150 colleagues from around the U.S. and across the globe in the inaugural Safelite Triathlon and Poker Run. The event, taking place this Saturday, raises money for Ma'Afrika Tikkun, an organization benefiting children and orphans in South Africa.
 
To-date, the triathlon and poker run participants have raised more than $165,000 for the charity.

Parents and teenagers invited to talk with former prosecutor, police

Teenagers and their parents are invited to attend a free Juvenile Justice forum in Fayetteville Tuesday, April 27.

Former DeKalb prosecutor J. Tom Morgan will share information about issues teens face everyday which can be considered a crime but often go unknown or acknowledged, organizers said.

The topics covered may range from cyber-bullying to illicit text messages, gang behavior, sexual harassment, drug use and more, organizers said. Read More»

Outdoor burning ban starts May 1

The Fayette County Department of Fire and Emergency Services wants to remind all residents and developers that the outdoor burning ban will go into effect beginning May 1.

No outdoor burning will be allowed from May 1 until the ban is lifted on October 1. The ban is applied throughout north Georgia to improve air quality. Read More»

Mary Jim was preceded in death by her daughter, Marianne McLelland Hudson, and her parents James D. and Bertie Lanier.

She is survived by her daughter, Laura McLelland Fuller and her husband Robert Fuller; her son Kent McLelland and his wife Joanna Amos McLelland; grandchildren, Courtney Fuller, Evan Fuller, Jacob McLelland, Rachel McLelland, Caleb McLelland all of Senoia; Sydney Hudson of Sharpsburg; son-in-law R.
