A large corporate donation of $150,000 to United Way of Greater Atlanta helped support the Healthy Communities initiative, which helps underserved people in Fayette County gain better access to primary health care. McIntosh place opens Friday

The community is invited to join Fayette Senior Services June 21 from 3 p.m.to 5 p.m. for the grand opening and a tour of McIntosh Place, a new facility for senior enrichment at 191 McIntosh Trail in Peachtree City. McIntosh Place will host classes and activities for Fayette County seniors.

Movie screening set for Fayetteville.

This Friday, Fayetteville Main Street is hosting its first free “Moovie Night” of 2013 at Southern Ground Amphitheater. Beginning at 7 p.m., families are encouraged to come out for an evening of fun, music, and movies. Bring your own chair or blanket.

Chase Bank to raze, replace Kedron KFC

The former Kentucky Fried Chicken building in the Kedron Village shopping center may soon cluck its way into oblivion.

Chase Bank has submitted a proposal to demolish the empty former KFC at the corner of Peachtree Parkway and Georgian Park in favor of a 3,421 square-foot bank with 30 parking spaces.

Chase also wants to remove a significant amount of landscaping that would be replaced and maintained, a company representative told the Peachtree City Planning Commission Monday night. Read More»

PTC planners want to save more trees

The Peachtree City Planning Commission wants to enhance the city’s landscaping ordinance by limiting the amount of “tree save credit” that can be used on a given site.

One idea discussed at Monday’s commission meeting would require a number of developers in the future to plant trees in other areas of the city such as right of way and other city-owned property where reforestation is needed, such as parks. Read More»

The first draft of Peachtree City’s budget, proposed by city staff, will not require a millage rate increase, according to city Finance Director Paul Salvatore.

Former Fayette employee tossed from meeting for 'name calling'

A recently fired Fayette County employee was thrown out of the county commission meeting Thursday night by commission Chairman Steve Brown after he was warned several times to avoid “name calling.”

Brown tossed former Assistant Finance Director Emory McHugh immediately after McHugh was speaking about County Administrator Steve Rapson and, referencing an entomological reference he made earlier about the name “Steve” said the following: “Remember, Steve is synonymous with deceitful.” Read More»
