Work on Hwy. 54W makes traffic slow-going

The installation of a median cut at Wynn's Pond Road on Ga. Highway 54 West just inside Coweta County will require that one westbound lane be closed until 3 p.m. Monday. Peachtree City police advise that motorists be prepared for delays.

4 from Fayette head to state

Four teams from Fayette County are in the GHSA state playoffs next week.

The Sandy Creek Patriots finished second in Region 5-AAAA after closing out the regular season with a 23-8 win at Fayette County. They will host their game next week against Columbia. Woodward clinched the region title with its win over Carrollton.

The Whitewater Wildcats came in third after their 34-21 win over Troup in the regular-season finale and will travel to Marist next week. Read More»

5-AAAA football standings

As you read this, the final football standings for the regular season in Region 5-AAAA have likely been set. Before Friday’s games kicked off, things were far from certain.

Woodward and Sandy Creek were assured to be among the four teams from the region in the state playoffs. Carrollton, Fayette County and Whitewater all had a shot at joining them, as all three of these teams can finish anywhere from second to fifth in the region. Peachtree City’s Helen Davidson was honored by Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at their Strong4Life Youth Ambassador Hall of Fame Awards.

Davidson was celebrated for a project she did at the Girl Scout’s Camp Loblolly (a day camp in Peachtree City) where she played off the camp’s ‘C.L.U.E.’ theme (Camp Loblolly Undercover Experience) to help the scouts become healthy agents. Read More»
