Mr. Floyd J. Hendrix of Tyrone passed away July 8, 2012. Mr. Hendrix was a member of Flat Creek Baptist Church, The Gideons International and was retired Associate State School Superintendent for many years.

Recently, the Fayette County Chamber of Commerce asked each candidate to provide answers to questions regarding important local issues and Comcast videotaped the comments. The video will be broadcast over Comcast channel 25 and a link to the video will be posted on the Chamber’s website.

Tyrone maintains 13-month reserve despite recession

When it comes to weathering the storm of the economic recession that never seems to end, the safest harbor in these parts is the town of Tyrone. The adoption last week of the 2012-2013 general fund budget totaling $3.629 million was not the standout story. The real news was that the town continues to maintain 13 months of operating reserves despite the recession and shrinking property values.

Cops: Mexican murder suspect hid in PTC

In jail since January, suspect turned over to Mexican authorities Thursday

A former Peachtree City resident wanted for murder in his homeland was turned over to Mexican law enforcement officers Thursday, according to officials with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Alfredo Montalvo-Coreno, 32, had been jailed since Jan. 16 when he was arrested by the Tyrone Police Department for driving without a license and speeding. Read More»
