Fayette County law enforcement arrest reports — Sept. 18 – Sept. 24

The following arrests were reported by local law enforcement agencies for the past week. All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty.

Nicholas J. Bush, 26, of Bristol Court, Fayetteville, for seatbelt violation and revoked or suspended license.

Jason J. Gaudette, 24, of Chadwick Drive, Peachtree City, for probation/parole violation.

Alman S. Cato, 34, of Green Valley Drive, Riverdale, for less than an ounce of marijuana. Read More»

Tyrone sewer ordinance updated

The Tyrone Town Council in Sept. 21 in a housekeeping move approved a revision of the sewer ordinance to include the provision of sewer services to the new fire station on Jenkins Road and to the undeveloped Powers Court Medical property on the north end of Senoia Road. Both had been previously approved for sewer service but had not been listed in the ordinance.

Interim Town Manager Brandon Perkins said the ordinance revision was needed because a recent review of the areas approved for sewer did not list Powers Court Medical even though it had been previously approved. Read More»

36th Founders Day Festival in Tyrone this week

The carnival will have rides for all ages beginning Wednesday, Sept. 19 through Sunday, Sept. 23. Several types of vendors ranging from arts and crafts to fun things for the kids to do like games, crazy hair and face painting will be available.

The Founders Day celebration itself starts Friday.

Also on the Founders Day menu: Several food vendors such as barbecue, funnel cakes, Italian ice, Philly cheese steaks, cotton candy, candy apples and much more.

Hood hired as town manager in Tyrone

Tyrone is about to get a new Town Manager by way of Upson County. The Town Council last week approved the hire of Upson County Manager Kyle Hood, who is expected to begin his new job next month. Hood’s arrival will mean that interim Town Manager and Tyrone Police Chief Brandon Perkins can return to his full-time duties with the police department.

Hood has served as Upson County Manager since July 2008 and has also served as project manager for the Wilkinson County Commission and as a research and teaching assistant in Georgia College and State University in Milledgeville. Read More»

Mrs. Helen M. Hall of Tyrone passed away Friday, September 7, 2012.

She is survived by her husband, Roy Hall of Tyrone; daughter, Donna Watson and husband, Jerry of Tyrone; son, Keith Creel of Tyrone; sister, Madge Doles of Inverness, Fla.; granddaughter, Angela Griffin and husband, Cliff of Sharpsburg; great granddaughter, Ashley Griffin.

A funeral service was held Monday, September 10, 2012 at South Metro Ministries Church of God Congregation with remains placed in state. Pastor Alan Mathura officiated. Interment followed at Westminster Memorial Gardens. Read More»
